pattayaluvgod Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 hi i am travelling to pattaya on the 23rd dec and staying for 13 nights. can anyone recomend a good hotel that will allow "guests" that is quite central. also how can i go about booking a room is it best to get somewhere for a couple of nights online and then find somewhere while i am there for the rest of the time. thanks in advance for any help cheers
ProfessorFart Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 How much are you willing to spend? If you're willing to go to 1000B - 1500B you can tale your pick of the Guest friendly places pretty much. On those dates you'd better book ASAP first. I like the Flipper Lodge on Soi 8 personally, but if I'm on a longer stay I like the Siam Sawasdee on Soi Buakhao which is still central but also quieter.

ProfessorFart Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 hope to see some friendly people there for the hols. Theres no shortage of them in Pattaya. Have a nice trip. I only wish I was there for Xmas.......oh well. I can't go every Xmas........
thaiflyer1 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Have a look here http://www.scandibar.com/hotel/
loong Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Has the Siam Sawasdee Repaired their lifts yet? If you are going on the top floor, check the lifts 1st. They have 2, but often only one works. Sometimes a Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong wait for the lift on the top floor. (Even longer wait if they've both packed up) If you don't mind South Pattaya, can recommend the Dolphin Apartments, just off Soi BeauKhow (never sure how to spell this) on edge of Tuesday/Friday market. Similar price to Siam sawasdee from 500Baht +. You are charged seperately for electricity etc so caning the air con can put up the cost. As in all places in Pattaya, check the electricity meter reading with the owner before moving in. Not saying you will get conned, but you often do in Pattaya. http://www.siam-web.com/dolphin/ website for Dolphin Apartments, but I don't think that they take bookings online anymore as too many people have booked and not shown up
pattayaluvgod Posted December 10, 2004 Author Posted December 10, 2004 hi the Siam Sawasdee hotel is fully booked i am now trying the flipper lodge to see if i can get a room there. please keep your suggestions coming as i need a room to put my mind at rest. thanks for all the recommendations so far. i only decided to go on wednsday and already have a flight from newcastle for really cheap. cheers for the replies
britmaveric Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Welcome Plaza or Sunbeam - however high season so might be a tad problematic finding a room, but keep trying.
Sunny Valentine Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Even the Apex Hotel (IMHO the shittiest Shithole in greater Pattaya) has a "No vacancies" sign put up as of today! You might have trouble finding any place over Xmas. Sunny
ProfessorFart Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 The Apex is always full up for some reason!
dfwbkk Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 The Siam Sawasdee at Soi Baukao/Soi Honey Inn has been my choice of lodging for the past 6-7 years. Great value and an OK pool, within walking distance of the action... /// dfw
pattayaluvgod Posted December 12, 2004 Author Posted December 12, 2004 does anyone have any idea where i can get a room everywhere seems fully booked
peder.klockmann Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 (edited) does anyone have any idea where i can get a room everywhere seems fully booked <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When I get a hotel, I love to stay at the Marriott, It's right next to the mall and not too far of a walk north of Walking Street. It's a bit spendy though, expect to pay about 3500 Baht a night and probably at least double that for Christmass and New Years. I've found the best prices on the Marriott website itself. Just type in Pattaya on the search window on the front page. They have absoluetly no problems whatsoever with guests, and the security staff is freakin' awesome. I like the Deluxe Garden Terrace Rooms do to the ease of exit and entry with guests. I just use the side entrace to the Garden next to the Pizza Hut and the Mall. Better yet, just click on this link: https://marriott.com/property/propertyPage....arshaCode=PYXMC All prices on the site are quoted in USD. Edited December 12, 2004 by peder.klockmann

If you want a good cheap hotel this late in the day then try either of the following Sabai Inn - Soi 2 - guest friendly, great staff, and about 900BHT a night Sunshine Vista Serviced Apartments - Soi 3, also guest friendly with excellent staff, may pay around 1500BHT a night in high season Try the following site for other hotels in and around Pattaya, very reliable and always use them - http://www.res24.org HTH

krider Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 Ben is "hands off" the website. That was and still will be maintained by peter - the ex owner. The bar changed ownership in December from what I gather. Had a chat with Pete and he plans to dedicate more time to the web side of things now
peder.klockmann Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 I heard about the change of ownership too, wasn't sure if it was true or not. "Had a chat with Pete and he plans to dedicate more time to the web side of things now." - Krider Yeah, it does seem like it is lacking a little compared to the other bar sites. I just don't know if it would be wise to offer a helping hand or not; because I am a little bit of a perfectionist, often confused with procrastination... if a project I'm working on doesn't seem to be going in the direction I originally planned, I usually scap everything and start over. I've made so many freakin' unfinished websites that it's not even funny.

He runs a very popular forum, maintains 2-3 websites, and also until recently had a photo hosting site - he still does but it is closed to new registrations. Me being a proffesional in the industry, have offered help many times, but understandably - it is his baby and he likes to do it all himself. He also does some decent video editing of parties etc... Trust me Pete knows what he is doing and now he has semi-retired I would not be surprised if he gets a lot more things going
