I have to draw a location map.

Currently I am using Viso but the graphical results of the maps are looking not that good.

I've looked at many local magazines with ads containing locations map and I bet they were not created

with Visio but another much better program(s)

Can any of the board members recommend a better and more user friendly program than MS Viso?

Thanks for any advise

most of those were created with a vector app like adobe illustrator. if you want a free solution that's a little less robust i would try inkscape.

I've created maps for several clients. i usually use a 3d app like Rhino3D to layout the basic elements, flatten a perspective view into a 2d drawing, then import that drawing into illustrator and add custom outlines and shading, as well as text labels.

Thanks for the link. Actually I am working with Illustrator (advertisements) and Corel, which in some ways makes it easier to draw some lines and combine it. You can find billions of programs which create logos, signs etc for you but I haven't found any "bloat free" program so far, which does the job when it comes to small location maps.
