I have had this social insurance for a few years now and have only used it twice. In that two times, I had been given cheap generic Amoxicillin with some antihistamines and decongestant. The bill issued to the Phakan Sangkom was once 400Baht and at the second time, 500Baht. I reckon that with the same amount of money, quality drugs could be included in the prescription put together a better physician that actually takes a look at you. . My staff and everyone i know always get the same cheap drugs. The hospitals that practice this includes Teppanya (Ram2), McCormick, and Rajavej in Chiang Mai.

What I am getting at is how come no one mentions anything about this? Particularly the locals. I have sent my maid twice to Loi Kroh Clinic of which I paid for and she came out with good quality drugs and a good check up. Once at 400Baht and once more at 160Baht which was a follow up. Both times included a urine check.

Are we being cheated? I rather opt out of paying for Pakhan Sangkhom if this is the case. Anyone who has similar experiences and would like to discuss this, please go ahead.
