I will be visiting Huo Hin this month. I would like to correspond with someone who lives in Huo Hin or who knows about it. I hope it will be a place where I will feel confortable to spend my summers. I am a 73 year old gay single man who enjoys a place where I can rest, read, and exercise on a cool beach. Money boys turn me off, but I enjoy an atmosphere where I can feel comfortable being a descret Old gay man. Sex is not a priority for me. I want to learn more about the culture, history, geography, attractions of the area. The gay life is an interest by not a priority. I would also like to find a travel companion who would like to explore the mountains, parks and scenic wonders west of Huo HIn.

Hmm...in my experience Hua Hin is quite a dull place. Suits well for someone not interested in much of action. Been there, seen that. I don't mean that there are no attractions but in general it's easy living with no much to do. You can walk around the places of interest in one day.

In my mind Hua Hin is a smaller version of Pattaya. The prices of food etc. are quite high and there are few establishments where one can relax just by spending time.

Good luck with your efforts. I don't know you so I don't know whether you will like it there or not.

My late friend who died in Hua Hin this year at around the age of 79 loved Hua Hin for the beach, etc. He was unable to find a third Thai lover. Retiring in Hua Hin for elderly folks will be a problem until the new hospital opens around 2029. Even if it opens year after next, I wonder how many surgical specialists will fly down from Bangkok more than once a month, but you never know.

I thought the new hospital was suppose to open in 2 years time. Actually the Hua Hin hospital is not bad just stay away from San Paulo

I have lived in the same house in Hua Hin for 16 years so perhaps that qualifies me as one of the old-timers. In 20 years in Thailand I have visited most provinces, many of them repeatedly. I have not found anywhere that has the quality of life offered in Hua Hin. IMHO Hua Hin has the best air quality in Thailand and also the best seafood.

I don't know how important sex is to someone at your age, but it is available in Hua Hin, and much more prevalent than would appear at first glance. With the arrival of Villa Supermarket, your food desires are only limited by your budget.

As for the disparaging comments about heathcare, the new private hospital will indeed open in two years time and it will be staffed full time by highly-qualified doctors. This is one of the best hospital groups in Thailand, a public company, and it will be the finishing touch in terms of making retirement in Hua Hin perfect in all respects.
