You're kidding yourself if you think the military will let them do that.
So if we do get a Demo government what then? Do the red shirts pull a PAD and block parliament?

No. The red shirts will close Swampy & Don Muang down. Now they know there is no jail for doing that.

What can the army do? Shoot the women and children in red T-shirts?

Yes, tossing grenades and using rifle launched grenades almost daily for awhile definitely shows "patience and restraint"

Most populations, were their government buildings taken over by a mob- their major airport shut down- the police and army unwilling or unable for whatever reasons to confront the mob- would react much more harshly than the UDD have.

It would be easy to post the reds from Sept 2nd with slingshot and machettes, but don't get drawn into this picture flashing nonsense. Don't feed trollism.

yup, it would be EASY to write all in bolb or using signal colours or CAPITAL letters, whatever. fantasise about EVERYTHING and keep on going with finger ponting on others.

I don't condone any violence against the yellows other than to prevent illegal actions, but it is difficult to deny that their recent shenanigans have caused a lot more people loss of income and big problems than anything that the reds have been doing lately.

Murdering people by launching grenades and throwing grenades causes more than just a slow down of income to the people that are dead.

Prasong tells Foreign Ministry to revoke Thaksin's passport

Former foreign minister Prasong Soonsiri Tuesday demanded the Foreign Ministry permanent secretary to revoke all types of passports of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Prasong submitted the written demand to the permanent secretary and threatened to file nonfeasance charges against him if he refused to revoke Thaksin's diplomatic and ordinary passports.

He reasoned that the Foreign Ministry's directives prohibited issuance passports to anyone who face creminal charges and Thaksin has already been sentenced to two-year imprisonment.

Air Force Chief Supports Democrat-led Govt

UPDATE : 9 December 2008

The former supreme commander believes a national unity government is the solution to put an end to the political turmoil in the country.

Meanwhile, the Air Force chief backs the Democrat Party to lead a coalition government, reasoning that the People Power-led administrations were unable to run the country.

Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshall Ittaporn Suppawong has commented that Thailand should allow the opposition party to run the country because the previous two democratically-elected administrations led by the now-disbanded People Power Party were unable to manage the country.

The Air Force chief added that the previous two governments had problems in both legislative and administrative branches, and he wants to see Thai politics moving smoothly without obstacles.

He confirmed that the Armed Forces will accept whoever becomes the new prime minister but that person must be intent on working for the country and not biased toward a particular group. The Air Force chief also urged politicians to consider the country's benefits as priority.

Asked about the Democratic Alliance against Dictatorship or DAAD's plan to stage a movement if the Democrat Party leads the formation of the new government, Air Chief Marshall Ittaporn confirmed that the Army will apply the same measures used to deal with the People's Alliance for Democracy protests to the pro-government group.

At the same time, the Air Force chief said those who are planning to join the DAAD's movement should learn from the past that the Army will not take sides, citing that the Army will work within the law and without bias.

The Air Force chief also admitted that the commanders of all Armed Forces have been monitoring and discussing the country's political situation frequently, but there hasn't been any apparent indication on the matter.

Further asked about the proposal for Army Chief General Anupong Paochinda to become the new prime minister, Air Chief Marshall said General Anupong would prefer to be a soldier and not be involved in politics.

Meanwhile, former Supreme Commander, General Boonsarng Niempradit believes that a national unity government is the solution to end the ongoing political crisis; however, he admitted that it would be difficult. He also urged politicians to make sacrifices for the nation once they have the chance to run the country.

However, General Boonsarng declined to comment about the stance of commanders of all Armed Forces on politics, claiming that he is not in the position to comment on the matter.

He admitted that the Armed Forces have been interfered with by the political sector in the past due to their standpoints.

The former supreme commander warns commanders of all Armed Forces to be impartial, as neutrality is the most significant thing for all Armed Forces.

Most populations, were their government buildings taken over by a mob- their major airport shut down- the police and army unwilling or unable for whatever reasons to confront the mob- would react much more harshly than the UDD have.

In Thailand, though, the government doesn't represent the people but a criminal on the run, and relies on mobs, not on the police or the army, to enforce the law.

One important point is missing in all the airport talk - the government knew it couldn't survive the courts, why didn't they resign a week earlier and spare everyone the trouble of the closed airport? Why all the blame is laid squarely on PAD? Why did the govt subjected the country to this ordeal when botht the army and the police refused to follow it's orders and their days were numbered? I tell you why - because it was not a government of Thailand, but government of Thaksin Shinawatra, and so PAD had a moral, ethical, and democratic obligation to drive it out and retirn the power to the people.

The airport take over taught the country a few important lessons, but some airheads here refuse to see them. First - PPP has absolutely no interest in country's well-being, second - you can't fight the people, better not piss them off from the start, third - enough people in Thailand care about politics seriously enough to inflict major damage on everyone, days of free rides are over, politicians WILL be held responsible, if not by courts, then by the people.

Airport seizure damaged the economy, true, but don't forget the upside - there has been no major corruption scandals for over two years now, everyone is afraid to steal, politics are a lot cleaner than they used to be, the government can't even steal enough pay back for the last election campaign, let alone finance a new one.

Why did they have to resign because of the nonsense bunch? Because someone closes the airports, someone else must resign. So if I want to achieve anything, all I need to do is to gather 10,000 people heading to Suvarnabhumi.

The government's cronies were buying up distressed stock and company assests for the long run

while the cabinet stalled in case they got lucky with a charter rewrite.

They didn't but their buddy's god some nice deals.

Most populations are not represented by UDD or PAD,

so neither can do more than SAY they represent the whole.

UDD represents it's paymaster while the hoy paloy members believe

that they are helping themselves to a piece of the pie by helping

their demi-god in Dubia.

Of course having an 'other' to blame for your troubles,

makes it easy to run amuk. Group think makes it easy to be cruel.

Most of the whole prefers soap operas and lao kao, discrete sex,

and a job that gets them out of the sun. Politics only registers

when the baht notes are being handed out at voting times.

Most elections are for their local guy who makes the roads

cleared after a storm Bangkok is just noise in the background.

( nah, I'm not cynical much...)

Actually that's not at all what he was saying.

They would have known they were dead to rights going down VERY soon.

Starting the replacement party was proof enough of their understanding

of that inevitable situation.

They knew PAD was marching on the airports, they had plenty of advanced warning,

And they knew the courts were going to take them out of the picture.

It was only cronies, self-interest and Dr. T's ego that prevented stopping the whole fiasco.

And likely a calculation to ultimately discredit PAD into the future.

In any case the legal quagmire of this dissolution would have been BETTER dealt with

by a resignation before hand, that might have given Peua Thai a BETTER chance

of forming a coallition this week or last week etc.

On this point they seem to have really dropped the ball.

Too many saw them for their true colors, and dam_n the countries welfare...

Seems this view was shared within PPP factions and their coalition partners too.

Hense many, many major defections this week.

Rats from a sinking ship,

and it seems the Captain is trying to shoot them in the water before

they board another ship, and tell their story of the sinking....

Too many unresolved legal issues still remain;

about the PPP party list MP'S ACTUAL STATUS now,

For example:

Is Chai Chidchob, as a Party list MP of a now non-existant party,

actually still legally speaker of the house??? Who knows?

And about the abilities of a Acting PM, to do the business of the transition.

Can he dissolve parlement now or not.

The list of reasons why a earlier resignation would have suited PPP and the country better

is pretty darned long right now....

The 1st difference is TRT and PPP have been allowed to freely campaign here in the south.

I have seen both with my own eyes. No crowds shouting them down either. Mostly just, no crowds.

The other difference is hardly anyone bought their product down here.

complete free and TRT paid huge amounts for vote buying but still lost.

My wifes sister drank Heineken for days as TRT came with a truck full of Heineken to share in the Soi.

Fortunately didn't had many people living there as most houses were rent for keeping stock for a local market.

Errr, Koo, the idea is to resign to OPEN the airports.

That would have been a great service to the people, and they could have formed a new government out of Phue Thai members by now already - they would have gained the trust of the coalition partners and business community instead of losing it completely.

Everyone would have won.

No. The red shirts will close Swampy & Don Muang down. Now they know there is no jail for doing that.

You can be rest assured on one thing.

The so called PAD shortcomings will seem like a kindergarden picnic compared with these ( demonstrators )?????

Be this at the airports or anywhere they feel fit to roam / are instructed to disperse to !!!!

Desperate times indeed for their sponsor / s, who will stop at nothing to try to intimidate and enforce their evil desires.

TRT.........what a fuffing joke the Thai meaning of his parties slogan are. re. Mk.1 and Mk.2, shortly followed by Mk.3 should the unthinkable come to pass.

marshbags :o:D

Mb,

Frankly, it's easy for the PAD to be nice when their support is the army itself.

If the reds go into the airport then they won't be given the chance to nicely lay seige, they will be swept out mercilessly...

Double standards. Why does your hatred for one individual block you to this obvious fact?

REDS IS PLURAL, NOT INDIVIDUAL

Whattttttttttttttttttt

I hate violence of any nature, full stop.

But just to give you an idea of the difference you do not seem able to grasp.

Human decency is very economical among certain members of this thread, much to my disgust i might add.

Hatred against scenario,s of the following, of which not one of them can in any way by justified.

How many bombs did the PAD indiscrimitaely injure and Maime innocent citizens with ????

How many demos did the PAD go in Tool and Mob handed to inflict injury and death on peaceful demonstrators

eg Undonthani will do for starters.???

How many sites where demonstrators where sleeping along with their families had rocket propelled grenades fired at them after midnight or always in the early hours knowing full well where they were selecting these easy defenseless targets.???

How many red shirts have had Chinese Riot Grenades fired at them by unruly Thaksinia police, causing such human suffering injury and death then continuing to do so, even when it was obvious, continuing the carnage they were causing.???

Who is at this very time threatening to cause human carnage on a scale not seen since 1972, 1992.

The word shameless comes to mind for those who seemingly support such actions with their non critical condemnations of it all.

marshbags :D:D

ECT. ECT. ECT

Mb,

I like you, and I've always liked you , and agreed with your anti-Thaksin sentiment.

You've joined a region of ranters, blinkered haters, totalatarian supporters, cajoled needers, decent but manipulated folk that are singing oh so loudly for the opposite side, that you fail to see the bigger evil.

When the Dems are supporting clamping down of freedom of speech, does that say nothing to you?

Open your eyes Mb; Thaksin is just another patsy on the long line of folk that are used to re-inforce nationalism. To what ends? Why don't you ask yourself? You're more than intelligent for that...

Please.

what a funny.

remember that team of urophagist that recently hold a meditation session called "hiroshima" at the airport? peaceful asphalt & tarmac Camper, cute litte yellow smurfs and a anorexic teletubby as leader. but some people don't get it and that caused lot of noise and disturbance. ohh boy, i tell you, big action, you can google the story. but actually, and not many people know that, they had a mission "support for good people to manage the country and blocking of evil people from coming to power". kinda buffy the vampire slayer, but full show 24/7 on television.

one of the evil forces they saw in a man with the name Newin Chidchob, he is a evil khmer wizard.

Spiritual rites and incantations have been performed by the PAD on numerous occasions.

The rituals, which have been conducted in various forms, have usually been held after Mr Sondhi has told demonstrators about black magic performed by his enemies, especially the one he calls the "Khmer wizard", as they attempt to destroy the PAD and strengthen their side.

The Khmer wizard is said to be Newin Chidchob, a former Thai Rak Thai executive and one of Thaksin's close aides.

There have also been reports of PAD members placing used sanitary napkins at the statue of King Rama V to counter the black magic of the Khmer wizard, which is supposedly blocking the statue's power backing the PAD.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/101108_News/10Nov2008_news09.php

that is of course utter BS like the other stories of PAD, but it got firmly believed by cult fellowers and little brainers. PAD was not just a fad, much more, PAD is obsessive belief in the power of trashy plastic clappers. last week they declared a victory and dispered, but now is that evil khmer wizard in the news and Abhisit the man believed to be the next PM give him roses. are they not afraid that this can bring back the yellow mob? and here on TVforum how will PAD compurgation low style troll mob react on this. different things motivates them envy on rich people, hate of police, misogyny, gerontophilia and lot of them really get hooked up on that devil story. they have FEAR. now they must watch how Abhisit listen to the Khmer wizard.

Newin is also banned from politics for 5 years by the constitutional tribunal (may 2007). did't he could send his wife, brother, uncle, dad, whoever to tell Abhisit whats going on now and wait behind in the background to make it not to obviously.can nobody in newins 'yes men rat pack' speak for themself?

is that a victory now? will PAD issue a blessing, is it the big reconciliation? after so much drama about democracy back to the daily soap show. funny.

Well, this isn't a democracy. The military isn't going to give away the power to goofballs just becaue they claim to be "democratic".

And by power I don't mean opportunities to enrich themselves (that is a common defintition of power held in democracies), I mean the power to serve and protect the people, power that comes from service and dedication to the just cause.

To make it clear - the top military brass at this point is acting selflessly and they derive their power not from guns but from being right and being accepted by the people as such. They can't drive their tanks or fly their plains to supress the people, that's not where their power comes from, they can only stand up for what is right and HOPE it WILL be accepted by the people - this is the source of their power, and thus it WILL be obeyed, as long as they are percieved as acting in genuine interests of the country and the people.

PD,

Have you not realized that PAD supporters have VERY selective memories - it's pointless reasoning with them, they know better (or at least they think they do...)

I know that Thaksin is awful. But, our PAD supporting friends refuse to admit any faults;-

Sondhi done what? No he didn't, he's a decent man, I don't know, he's not the real leader...

Stop the poor from voting? Only a suggestion, let's discuss it, no a 70:30, or 50:50, I don't know, well the rural sorts are stupid aren't they...

Break laws? No, they appealed, the police arrested them and let them go, I don't know, the courts are umm well...

Newin bad? Did I say that... well you know... that's Thai politics for you, well here we are now... time to move on... Change the subject, I don't know.

Stringent anti free speech laws? Ever country has it's taboos, ohhh when in Thailand... I don't know, that's not the point, but Thaksin is evil...

Fools. Manipulated fools. Out of the frying pan...

The corrupt Thai courts are demanding assurances from the militant, armed Paramilitary, terrorist ,fascist PAD ; and their Democrat Party instrument, that the reported 40m baht per head for the MP's to switch, will not be sourced from the their slush fund.

And again, do you have any evidence for your repeated claim, on this and other threads, that the PAD are the militant arm of the Democrats, or that the Democratic Party is an instrument of the PAD, as above. I think not ... or you would surely have posted it ? You damage the IMO-justifiable claim, that the two have some similar aims, and also your own credibility, by extending it further than justified by the facts available.

Any evidence of 40m Baht bribes, should perhaps better be sent to the E.C. or media, as it would be evidence of corruption, but where is the TRT-equivalent of the PAD, to blow the whistle when needed, on this and on corruption during the military-appointed government ?

. If you are so eductaed have you read the latest edition of the Economist, or better still read bangkok Pundit or Thai crisis or even better Absolutely bangkok and many others good websites

Has the Economist been canned in Thailand this week due to its cover story?

If so, you're not missing much, there's little new information in that story.

I thought the news, announced in the Economist article, that "police were suspected of hundreds of extra-judicial killings" in the war on drugs, was unusually sloppy reporting of what are generally accepted to have been 3,000 deaths ! But then it was in a paragraph which claimed that this was "his gravest abuse", talking about Thaksin, and "not entirely his fault". How many deaths would have been necessary, before the Economist condemned it outright, one wonders ?

The article also failed entirely to mention Thaksin's having dissolved parliament himself, then rigged the 2006-election & had it annulled by the E.C., prior to the 2006-coup, so it was hardly a full analysis of recent political-events.

But it was good, in that it said much which can't be said here, and called for increased freedom-of-information as a necessary part of any solution to the current situation.

Well done on responding.

You may not realise it but in doing so you have served democracy and free speech.Well done.

Sadly it seems I have a cross thread stalker, but as a seeker of truth and justice so be it.

Is it not true that for years now PAD/Dems have decried the thai courts as corrupt.

As you will know from my previous posts, I agree, the thai courts are corrupt.

Now I am intrigued, as a seeker of truth and justice, how , following the replacement of elected judges with appointed judges, thePAD/Dems now consider the judiciary lilly white, after they have been saying for years the courts are corrupt..

All I have seen is a barrage of one-eyed,unilateral,judgements against the democratically elected government.

So will the PAD/Dems please tell us after years of saying the courts are corrupt, why they are not corrupt.

Credibility on the line.

faschist PAD,militant PAD, armed PAD paramilitaries, anti-government terrorists!...all reported here on tv, and by the international media.

Are you denying the PAD are not armed, or hijackers, or terrorist!!

The dems know what they have got into.

No the PAD are NO terrorists. better you look to the violence by anarchists and left wing on the streets of Greece , than you can see real terror. And the international press not even call them terrorsist. I think you need some reality check before you call middle age women terrorists.

Not my words, words of the international media.

If you dont like it ...lump it!

The trouble in Greece is because the Police shot and killed a young lad.

The people remember how the Police terrorised the people under the last faschist regime there.

The 15 year old boy was shot during riots. The policeman who shoot him was arrested.

The rioters in Athens are Anarchists( as they call themselves) and left wing students. They live already decades in one part of Athens where they are outlaws, because they don't allow any police come in. And there has been already riots before the police shot the boy. They are demonstrating against the government not so much against the police. But because they are Anarchist they burn down, cars, shops and looting the town, just because they like chaos.

And that's why the demonstrations of PAD was an example of an unseen discipline and self-restrain. After they left the airports they could re-open in 24 hours. And still some people in this forum call them terrorists. Can you imagine if 100 000 yellow shirts act the same as those anarchist in Greece. Suva would be burn down to the ground.

Exactly.

And not just in this forum.

In the international media the PAD have been described as airport hijackers, armed PAD paramilitaries, anti-government terrorists !!

go beef with them

The democratic supporters in Greece have longer memories than you.

They remember life under a faschist regime (equates to PAD ), and their treatment by the police.

After the lad was shot by the police these long memoried democracy supporters protested at the police action.

then the anarchists, students, other gripe groups took their chance and escalated into violence.

Just reviewing some of the recent posting on here and I'm getting the message that the police and the army were complicit in the yellow PAD faschist , illegal occupation of the airport, so stood back.

However if the reds were to similarly occupy the airport in protest at their grievances, they are to be wiped out by the police and army.

That sounds to me like ethnic cleansing.

Anybody from the militant, armed paramilitary, faschist , anti-government terrorist PAD care to inform us of their views on ethnic cleansing.

When this f*****g generals going to realize to keep their mouth shut. They only have to obbey orders thats all. In a democracy its the minister of defence who give their orders and hes always an civilian.

To be fair, Plus is honest...

'The military isn't going to give away the power'

If only he knew what he was saying. Very sad.

I explained where this power comes from and what it symbolises... Missed it? Here's the politically correct version:

The military is not going to entrust current bunch of politicians with looking after the country.

Would you?

Irony isn't it. Apisit has all along calling for the parliament to be dissolved, so that the people can have a fresh election to choose new MP/government. He has always voice that that PM (Somchai/Samak) step down is not the way to go, nor will it solve Thailand problems.

But now, the favor is for him to be a PM. Has he gone back his words. Does he not want the parliament to be dissolved anymore? Does he not want a new election anymore?

The man wipes Sondhi's behind.
