Hello, I'm a new student at Ramkhamhaeng University. I've been told i have to pay the MOE a visit in the next few weeks to have my high school diploma approved (something to do with proving its uni. entrance standard) . The secretary, although very sweet, had problems clarifying what exact doc. i needed. Can someone on this board pls. let me know what doc. are needed?

a few other questions......

Do i need originals? (i only have copies)

what is this accreditation issued by the embassy or MOE of your home country? (i hope this is not needed)

What is the process like and how long?

BTW...i'm a Canadian national.

Thanx

Is this to get a letter for your student visa application?

I thought that diplomas / certificates were either originals, or a letter could be gained from your embassy, that may be acceptable - both with regard to the visa application.

No, this has nothing to do with the visa. I've been told it has something to do with being officially accepted as foreign student in a Thai university and getting the student card. Pretty silly if you ask me.

Actually, it's a pretty standard sort of procedure and reassuring that they require this documentation. Basically, you have to prove that you graduated from an accredited high school somewhere (which is part of what most students in the U.S., Canada, etc. have to prove as part of application procedures). I'd guess they'll want to see your diploma (original) and transcript (in the U.S. sense, a list of courses and grades applied toward the diploma); make sure they don't try to KEEP your original diploma (let them make a copy, of course).

Make a copy of your diploma and take that, the original and some passport photos to the MOE. They will charge you 500 baht and will send off a request to your school to make sure you attended etc.. Best to go with a Thai speaker as you have to go to different offices to pay etc..The whole process takes about a month.
