Have I Got This Right

Featured Replies

Hi folks, have been in Cambo for a year now but had three holidays in Thailand (total 35 days). I am now hoping to return to Thailand for Around six months. If I get a double entry sixty day visa in Vientiane and get an extension on each, is this legal, im not familiar with this 90 day rule. It's a British Passport. Cheers and many thanks.

No problem at all :o

The (now defunct) 90 day rule applied only to visa-exempt entries anyway so would not have been an issue to you with a 'real' visa :D

Be aware that most double-entry tourist visas are now only valid for three months from date of issue (previously they were valid for six months) so you may need to do a border run to activate the second entry before your first extension actually expires (see the Jack Golf thread). You must activate the second entry by doing a border hop BEFORE the 'Must enter before' date.

It is the consulate in Vientiane that only gives 90 days. There may others but most in the world give 6 months. If you had a 3 entry with a 6 month validity you could get almost 9 months out of it.

Yes, it would have been the same. The maximum validity of a tourist visa valid for travel to Thailand for more than one journey is six months from the date of issue.

thanks for the feedback.my friend, long time traveler to siam, also from canada came to thailand on the 7th had to go back on the 12th cause a death in the family.i told him if he has time to get another multiple entry tourist visa, cause surely he burnt the first one on his limited stay and the 15 day thing sucks for part time working class people who come here to escape the canadian winters.30 days at a time can be bearable but 15 is crap.cheers.
