More bad news,I'm up in Bangkok, and yesterday I went to a restuarant in the Emporium, guess what?NO beer to be served in any restaurants in the Emporium between 2-5pm.

I spoke to the Emporium manager, and he said the rule is for all places that sell booze including restaurants.I hinted that I thought he was wrong, but they have been told by there lawyers.

It's not just Farangs who are a bit surprised about the enforcement changes.

Three Thai women in the queue behind me at Big C earlier today had to put aside the beers that they had in their shopping cart when told they couldn't buy them until 5pm.

It may have been law since 1972 - but it wasn't observed until recently.

Doesn't bother me though - I travel so much and drink so little that the only booze I buy is duty free :o

Well, uh, some of us who work a little bit in the daytime don't have to worry that much about 2-5 pm liquor purchase cutoffs, though I guess if I were shopping on the weekend it might be a bit annoying.
