AA1
Sisaketmike. You look like the genuine article!! My photo was taken a few years ago when walking round our village in Surin and from the pot I had my first tasting of the worms. Have never looked back!! bonobo
I get most of my silk woven in Buriram, but Surin is another hot spot. Silk had pretty much disappeared after the turn of the last centruy when the Chinese figured out how to machine-make silk cloth. There were two small pockets of silk being bade by Muslim weavers (Thai Buddhists pretty much gave iit up as killing the silkworms to harvest the coccoons fell out of favor). It took Jim Thompson to reinvigorate the Thai silk industry and get is back into the mainstream. Quite a bit of the cheaper silk available in Thailand is actually only cut and dyed here. The silk is spun and woven in Vietnam, then it is smuggled into Thailand for cutting and dyeing.
