I am bringing a couple classic iphones back with me from the states, both in good shape with all the accessories they came with. Has anyone sold iphones before? They are 8gig. How picky are shop owners as far as condition of the phone and any ideas on how much they will fetch?

any input appreciated!

thanks!

Hi!

Where did you see that?

I have looked at the THai Apple store and they don't have it for sale!

Truemove sells it together with a plan.

Thanks

Siamphones, the iPhone 3G 8GB comes down every month in price. They started at 49,500 baht

25th July they were 44,000 baht.

2nd August they were 38,000 baht

3rd September they were 26.900 baht

just looked a few mins ago there down to 18.500 baht [from what I can see the same phone in the USA cost double this??]

They also appear to sell 2nd hand ones form 6,600 baht, in September 2nd hand was 30.000 baht up.

3gs in the states cost 299 with the set up of a 2 year contract.

But they can be bought second hand anywhere from 300-500 dollars free of contract.

I bought a couple iphone classics, one for 200 (7000 baht) and one for 275 (9000 baht). Was hoping they were still selling in the 15000 + range...

It most probably will be locked to a True simcard.

You also have to take out a package, on the bronze package you'll pay 1,283 Baht/month, with voice calls at 1.5 Baht/minute, 10 hours of GPRS included and 1 Baht/minute after your 10 hours are finished.

Since the 10 hours of internet with AIS would cost about 90 Baht, you are effectively paying 24 times 1193 Baht plus the 7000 Baht makes for about 35,600 Baht, not such a hot deal IMO...

Definately will be locked by True.

If u take the Upfront u dont need any package or contract from what i understand.

Im gonna double check with True later on what their UpFront means

Nope, the 6,999 Baht upfront pland is called the Bronze plan, which is a 1,199 Baht/month for 24 months package.

http://www.truemove.com/iphone/eng/price_plan.htm

Although I just saw there are 100 sms and 100 minute talking time included, so the total amount going towards the phone is not so much (about 6000 Baht less when compared to what I pay on my AIS package).

Which would bring the phone roughly to the price you'd pay for it unlocked!

Add to that where I live True does not even have GPRS, only voice. Even in Bangkok large parts are still not upgraded to Edge. Edge is very well usable, regular GPRS is just too slow to be useful...

thanks for the input...but it still seems no one knows the current prices of classic iphones at MBK, my original question.

iPhone v1 brand new is 22,000-24,000THB

True Move is offering four packages: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. Only the Bronze package has an upfront payment. All four packages require you to pay a monthly service fee (i.e. sign a service contract) for 24 months. (What you have to pay each month after 24 months, I have no idea.) If you stay within the limits set for each package, the following is what you will end up paying after 24 months for the 16GB phone:

Bronze: B 39,275

Silver: B 38,376

Gold: B 43,176

Platinum: B 50,376

According to the website: http://www.truemove.com/iphone/eng/price_plan.htm :

the monthly limits seem to be quite low. For the Bronze and Silver plans, your use of wi-fi is limited to 20 hours a month: anything in excess is 1B per minute. That's probably fine. But for voice calls, for bronze and Silver, the limit is "100." Can that be 100 minutes a month? It must be. That's like three minutes a day! Excess charge: 1.5B/minute. Use of Edge/GPRS/3G is limited to 10 hours for the Bronze plan and 1 GB for the Silver plan. I am not sure how to interpret that. I assume this means downloads from the Internet. Excess: 1B/minute.

Wonder if the prices will fall of gray-market iPhones.

For sure AIS will soon offer a better unlimited data package with talk minutes.

How many thousands of iPhones are already operating in Thailand? The market's pretty saturated. AIS will make sure their customers stay happy.

And again, TRUE's iPhones will be locked, no number portability and according to my information you have to pay with a Bangkok Bank credit card.

DTAC monthly:

50 sms

10 mms

10 hours GPRS

840 minutes

700 baht .... imagine the savings by not buying a Iphone from True ....

How much are you paying for them? You are better off trying to sell it on here or craiglist. Thai shop owners won't pay you as much since they will most likely resell it to someone else.

I might know someone who wants to buy one if you can't get rid of it.

I'd wait for the AIS / DTAC packages or get a HK phone. True sucks - we have a prepaid one for UBC, it has pretty bad reception.

I have tried True WiFi on several occasions, and it was always horribly slow, much worse than most free hotspots I know. In Bangkok, it was so slow I ended up using my EDGE phone instead. And that was in a "True WiFi zone" which had True advertisements everywhere. Between the slowness and the fact that True hotspots are not nearly as wide-spread as "True" marketing releases make them out to be, I'd think the included WiFi package is pretty useless.

100 minutes is a joke, even I use more than that, the wife would use it in a day. Given that 100 mintes is nothing, overtime should really be 1 Bht/min, not 1.5Bht. Seems like they want to nickel and dime you with these plans.

Im considering to switch back to AIS. True is a joke.

Im living in ratchada and in my 6th floor condo i got a 2bar reception. True WiFi i paid 450B for a full month unlimited and max speed i get on downloads was 30kb/s. :o

I hate their Cell/TV service, but I have good luck with their DSL 3mbit here and I get over 300K most of the time.
