I have a couple of these large, dark butterflies at the back of the house, busy pollenating whatever the plant is (don't know that either :o).

Can anyone name the butterfly (and plant too?).

Great or common eggfly (Hypolimnas bolina spp.)- lacking bright spots on the dorsal surface of the wings suggests it's a female.

nice work phaethon.. i did a quick search myself but couldn't nail it.. (then again butterflies aren't my speciality, if i have one at all)

seems you're right though, a female it is.. see here (don't worry, it's not a 'Rick Roll')

problem sorted Jetset.. u still getting those frogs round your place..? any more snaps ?

Yes - that's it. Thanks phaeton and Goshawk. It has a little bit of blue on the front edge, if that's what dingdongrb was asking about:

Yes, still getting the frogs, or was it toads? :o

But, as it's getting drier, there aren't so many in the drains although my next-door neighbour's garden seems to be full of the big ones.

I've got one that normally lives in a house brick in the car port, but sometimes he's cheeky and tries to move in:
