Marriage Extension Rules Clearer?

So here is the situation that I am confronted with and perhaps somebody can hep me to what is needed: I have received 6 consecutive marriage extension, but now I am leaving Thailand for 6 months without re-entry permit, as my income has dropped to below 40.000 a month so I can't apply for a new extension before I leave. When I return, with the income tax added I will be able to show pension for over 400,000, but my monthly income will fall short of 40.000. Must I show the 40.000 for 2 months prior to application for the extension? I could borrow some money to be able to show that. Also can I use the 40 each month? Please answer somebody? I have been in Thailand almost 20 years now.

am no expert but i believe if you transfer 400,000 baht into your thai account 60 days before re applying you'd be ok.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bankof not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Would your average annual income be 40,000 before you leave?

It does not say anything about the 2 months before for the income.

I don't understand your question about the 400,000 option.

Before it was required of me to show in a Thai bank deposits the last 3 months prior to application for the extensions of 40.000, but at that time I had over that amount but now I have suffered an income decrease.

Your gross annual income would have to be 480,000 baht to get the average of 40,000 per month.

You can show that you have 400.000 baht in a Thai bank for 60 days. You can not mix the two.

ubonjoe, are you sure you cannot mix the two? On other posts there are quotes of having ' 800.000 in the bank and no income or 400.000 and an income of 40.000 a month' or any combination of the two for a retirement visa so does the same rule not apply for a marriage visa?

Sorry to seem so stupid here but I am in the same position as the OP and will shortly be applying for my marriage visa here in UK.

For a Retirement Extension you can have a combination of Income and Cash.

For Marriage it has to be Income OR Cash.

This is the rule

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

BTW In the UK you can only apply for a Non Imm O Visa. No proof of finances needed When you get to Thailand you apply for the Marriage Extension

I agree with UbonJoe on the subject of mixing income and bank deposit.

Mixing is an option for retirees, but has never been mentioned in relationship to marriage.

As it stands it is income of 40K a month OR 400K in the bank
