jumnien
T. biggest mistake was stealing too mcuh for himself and pissing off half the country.Just think for a moment, what if Thaksin accepted Chamlong's offer back in January 2006 - apologise, give 25% of the Shin sale income back to the society, and go on with your life? Would worked out cheaper for him and saved the country years of turmoil, and it'd surely be remembered as a statesman's act, and he'd still be at the helm. But that wouldn't be "our" Thaksin - greedy, selfish, and egoistic. "Our" Thaksin is reduced to juggling prepaid cards in second rate hotels somewhere in Nicaragua. Since when is General Chamlong the taxman of Thailand? Isn't it time for the Army to go back to their barracks instead of negotiating tax settlements, occupying the airports and smashing the constitution? Plus
It was an easy way, like a settlement. Thaksin chose to go through all the motions. Now his shenanigans with Ample Rich, WinMark etc got all exposed and he risks losing ALL the income, legally. Due Tax alone is what, 13 bil? Close to 20%.
