Anyone Fancy Translating This

My Mrs is a huge pulp fiction fan - she must have watched it 20 times!!!

I want to get a framed poster designed of Jules and his gun, along with the Thai translation of ' The path of the rightous man' for her birthday:

Ahead of time, if anyone manges it - thank you. I'll put up a photo of the poster when its done

To the 40 hits, thanks for taking the time to look - I feared that would happen. Its an extremely tough translation. After 6 months at AUA years ago, I couldnt attempt it!

I just tried looking up the quote on several Thai Bible sites (not that they were in my bookmarks) but a look on the Wikipedia page for Pulp Fiction tells me that it is not actually a direct quote from the Bible. Certainly it doesn't look anything like translation given for Ezekiel 25:17

He bring alot of other flicks together to produce something, in itself, unique. Great film maker.

I've made contact with a Thai with absolutely tip top English, hopefully he will be able to translate it. I think it requires someone extremely advanced.\

Translation is a special art, which requires much more than merely being bilingual. Otherwise, every bilingual person would be a competent translator, which is certainly not the case, especially with lyrical prose. But perhaps your guy will be up to the task.

This is my attempt on translating this quote;

"เส้นทางของผู้ทำความดีมักถูกแวดล้อมไปด้วยผู้ต่อต้านและอุปสรรคจากผู้ชั่วร้าย

I agree, and it is a good thing that this is not the slightest bit lyrical.

Despite all these years in Thailand and being reasonably fluent - I certainly couldnt attempt it.

Its funny isn't it. Just when you think you have a good grasp of Thai, benchmarking yourself against less fluent farangs, and all that one think one knows, you realise you really aren't that great.

Whether one possesses the art of translation or not or is indeed as good as you think, - standing behing the UN rep, is a mile off.
