For those amongst us who enjoy a Leo ot two and drive home, be careful if around the NAKHON PHANOM area. Road blocks are being set earlier than before. First foreigner to be caught DUI. 10,000 baht to be bailed out and 5,000 fine the next morning. No doubt immigration also informed.

10+5 is a bargain. Where I come from, it's an automatic impounding of the vehicle, and if convicted; suspension of license for 3 to 6 months, criminal record, mandatory alcohol and driving course, mandatory breathalyzer locking ignition gizmo, increased auto insurance rates and the delight of paying legal fees and a hefty fine and/or jail time depending upon severity of alcohol reading.

Not that this stops the habitual drunks. I see that some guy with 5 previous convictions just killed some lady back home. Dragged her for a few hundred meters before he took off.
