I would like to know if anybody has any info on transactions between Foreigners.

The topics on the this forum talk about a green book and a blue book, are they the same book?

I read about needing a power of attorney form, where do I get this and can it be in English?

Same question, but about the receipt-

What is the best way to cunduct a transaction like this with out getting "screwed over" somehow?

The seller provides the original, or a copy of his Embassy letter of residence? Signed copy is O.K.?

If I buy a vehicle - will I be safe driving it back to Issan - with the current plates and stickers providing the stickers are not expired?

When I buy a vehicle and get the vehicle to Isaan, what exactly do I need to do? (It will be a older vehicle)

I will send the wife to the Land Transport office to ask the same questions in a couple weeks and I will post what they say, but if anybody has experience about this -please guide me.

Also a can a "Furlong" own a large farm truck? (not drive, just own)

Car/Pickup is a Blue Book... Motorbike is Green.....

Before you go YOU MUST have the change of ownership paper from your local Land Transport office, [every office has there own heading on the paper] the seller must also sign this paper so be sure to take it with you and get the seller to sign it....

The seller provides the original, or a copy of his Embassy letter of residence? Signed copy is O.K.?

NO it must be the original and signed, this is Proof of address, so can also be the letter from Immigration..

Note he will have to pay the Embassy for this letter [uK is something like 2,300baht, and pick up the next day]..... He must supply a copy of his passport + a letter confirming it is his to sell and there is no loan against it... check this yourself or via Thai wife.

The Immigration letter cost 100 baht for sending it EMS, but take around 3 weeks to arrive...

You will need the same to put it in your name [myself always use the Junta office the letter is free and has the big red seal on the bottom] again this must be the original one.... When you go to your your local Land Transport office you will need to pay 45 baht for your new number plates, they will keep all the paperwork but give you a letter and the Blue book back. then go back in 1 week, the vehicle will then have to go in for inspection, they check all the VIN numbers etc and make a true copy via masking take and a pensil. sticking these on the Form that you got from there office which is signed by the seller and you + of course all filled out.

You then need to take off the numberplates [TAKE a Screwdriver] and take off the Tax sticker and return it

Do not forget: you have NEW local numbers so you will have to pay for the years road Tax, then they give you the number and the Blue book back in your name.

It is all very simple, as long as you have all the corect forms, but take hours. As far as I know there is NO time limit on then you do this as you can still drive the vehicle as long as you have insurance and road tax. if the vehicle is over 10 years then you need [MOT] this will be done at the same time as the inspection is done. from what I could see while I was there waiting they check the lights, wipers and tyres and give the people a paper to get there yearly tax.

Many people will put it in a Thai name, or simply use a local address near to the seller......... I live in a Village of 63 houses and just over a 100 cars/pickups, my car is one of only 3 here with the local number, all the rest have Bangkok numbers
