Statistics On Farang-thai Marriages?

Years ago, The Australian newspaper (hard copy, no links) published an article comparing the longevity of both Australian-Australian marriages and Australian-Asian (mainly Thai and Filipino) marriages. They found the divorce rate to be the same.

So even with cultural adjustments the chances of divorce were no worse being married to an Asian lady. Of course you can take that as good or bad news. :o

So Aussie men are a failure with Asian women too. :o

No, in fact the good news is, no more of a failure with Asian women than any other races. :o

However, the part you didn't read was where the female reporter quantified her report with the aside that in most cases of failed relationships the female partner pursued the Aussie stud begging for another chance. Generally though his full calendar of beer swilling, rugby and BBQs didn't allow space for such in his schedule. One does need prioritize.

Haven't seen those stats in thailand thus far, but you might find something here:

http://web.nso.go.th/eng/index.htm

I have seen figures for non-tourist visas granted for Australia (for Thais) broken down into the different categories for the ten year period commencing 1995/96. This did suggest significant growth in oz/thai couplings if that's what you were wondering.

Not Thai, but while I was doing research for an article I was writing for a magazine, I read that the US-Filipina divorce rate was about 25%, which was 1/2 of the US-US divorce rate at that time.

A note: as they are a catholic nation fewer divorces are to be expected. Not that that implies that happy marriages are in higher frequency there of course......

good point TAWP. The US-US Catholic marriage divorce rate is probably? lower than the national rate.

The OP appeared? to be asking about marriage statistics and the thread veered into break up discussions??? just the opposite

A Topic I just Posted, though, is on the subject of divorce rates. I worded it very poorly and it won't let me Edit the OP.

I am wondering if Thai farang couples who reside in LOS have a greater, lesser, or similar success rate?

I was mostly interested in comparing couples who share the same home address, but was not clear, so the thread veered into posts about long distance relationships.

The divorce rates are the same but possibly for different reasons?

Back in london I had many English friends married to Thai ladies.

Some ended up in divorce, the main reasons being the English guy ran out of money or hit on hard times, than wifey was off to pastures new.
