Tax With holding by Employers
I want to understand the rules and circumstances by which employers in Thailand are required to withhold income tax from employees wages and forward them to the TRD. I understand the rules vary based on the employment contract and status of the employee, the type and size of business involved and whether the employee holds a Work Permit or not. If anyone can shed light on the above, it will be most appreciated. The reason I want to understand this is in order to understand why so few people are registered for and/or pay income tax. My current understand from previous discussions, is this: 1) All Work Permit holders must have tax deducted by the employer who also files a tax return on their behalf. 2) Only businesses that are legal entities can with hold tax from employees. If the business is NOT a public or private limited company, or a partnership, it cannot. 3) Any business that wants to with hold tax from an employee, must register with the Revenue and establish an account. 4) Self Employed employees manage their own tax. 5) Hourly paid employees who work a full week, also can be required to manage their own tax. I don’t want to second guess the answer but I think we may find that many/most small/medium business are run by the self employed who don’t have to deduct tax and who employee hourly workers on weekly contracts. Self employed status is very inexpensive to operate, has almost no administrative overhead and comes with lots of great tax breaks. This is pretty close to working cash in hand and helps explain why the informal labour market is so huge. -

Thailand: Where white losers that can’t get laid go
only made palatable with money In your opinion. Over the many years I spent in LOS I had a reasonably large number of Thai BGs for various lengths of time, from 8 years to 1/2 hour ( she was a newbie that didn't want to get undressed, so she was returned to the bar pronto ). I didn't do short time so all at least overnight. In all the decades of monging, the number of rotten eggs was 1, the number that should have got a job planting rice instead, about 10, the number that were pleasant companions with benefits, the vast majority. None of them seemed to have a problem associating with farangs, though boredom would have been a problem, Given my occupation, I had a reasonably good grasp of seeing people as they are, rather than as they want us to see them, and the vast majority were reasonably well adjusted women that were making the best of their selling point while young enough. None looked on it as a lifetime career. Too many western people look on what they do with western ideals that are irrelevant. The worst part of the "job" would be boredom, and not making as much money as they thought they would, IMO. The job itself was pretty easy, and sometimes fun, depending on which bar they ended up at. If they hit the jackpot, and worked in a popular bar it's party time every night, and likely more money than they ever dreamed of, for not doing much more than lying on their back, and thinking of their boyfriend. If they got lucky, they had a holiday at the beach or even to a foreign country, at no expense for themselves. Something to do for a few years, and make some money to get ahead, or support their kids. -

Taylor Swift Shines in Poll, Surpassing Expectations Against Trump and Harris
Does not really matter about having any experience anymore. Presidents just need to win the minds of the idiots in the country who want so hard to believe them that they believe anything said. I say let her run for President next elections. She has a good chance to win and can sway voters with her songs haha. Experience is not a pre-requisite any more. Just look how Harris and Trump are doing with their limited experience. If Reagan can win, then Swift could win also. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger was a politician who won simply because people liked him and his wife had connections in political circles. -

I don't get it, if this guy is a drug smuggler, why did he need to sneak back into & live in Thailand? He could have operated with less scrutiny out of Cambodia. Was it the Pad Thai he missed? -

Police probe teacher recruitment mystery
From the link: The case involves a teacher who initially ranked first in a government employee recruitment exam at the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in Sa Kaeo but later found her name missing from the official announcement. OBEC reveals preliminary exam results show her scores do not pass 60% threshold in both Part A and Part B, and not in top 10. Exam papers will be sent to the police for verification to ensure transparency. -
