Hi all

This may seem like a ridiculous question, or one that has an obvious answer, given the current economic climate but here goes. I am a UK citizen currently in Bangkok and I'm interested in finding work here as a web developer (specialising in Flash). I made just one application for a job and received an interview request just a few hours later which obviously I'm very pleased about. I have good experience and they seem very interested.

The company seems ok but the quality of their work isn't that great compared to what I've worked on previously, although that isn't too big an issue for me. Since this is the first job I've applied for I'm wondering whether I should hold out for other opportunities (including applying for other jobs and sending speculative resumes) in the hope of getting a 'better' job or if I should accept the first thing that is offered. Does anyone know how abundant web/flash development jobs are here especially for foreigners? Is this a case of beggars can't be choosers especially for a farang trying to find work in Thailand?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

I have read that an employer can really tie up your work permit, this was with english teachers and schools. If you are thinking of taking a job while looking for a better opportunity, you might want to make sure they cannot strap you down?

I'd weigh this opportunity like one back home only bearing in mind that the opportunities are fewer and far between in Thailand. It depends on what your alternatives are. From what I've seen of people who arrived in Thailand and who tried to establish themselves the most common path to success is to get a foot in the door and get into the job market then climb up.

Working with a company whose product is of a lesser grade may be a good thing- you could make more of an impact and stand out more.
