I'm going to have to reconsider recommending this service. It started out great. Very fast and dependable. It now seems like every week it gets slower and disconnects are more frequent. I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled but it has not helped. Here is the current speed;

Last Result:

Download Speed: 243 kbps (30.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 125 kbps (15.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 639 ms

Anyone have any recommendations? Remembering back about 4 years, Sh!tstar started out about the same way. Great at first then progressing to VERY bad.

According to a few other people I know who have the old CCU-650 modem, service started going down when the new CCU-680 modems were introduced. Might be a co-incidence. But I have the 680, and it works pretty well for the most part.

I got some glitches today but nothing where I'd say it's now bad.

My two friends around here (same area) who use the 650, on the other hand, say it's become near-unusable.

Still better than my 2meg True ADSL in Bangkok...

Not sure but i understood that CAT might phase out CDMA and use the frequency for 3G. At least that was one of the options on the table some time ago.

GSM 3G has encountered many problems too. Since CAT continues to build CDMA EVDO towers, It's doubtful that they have any idea which way to go. Considering that the left hand never has any idea what the right hand is going to do, I wouldn't plan or bet on anything.

I have not been able to connect to Cat CDMA in Phuket for about one week. I have been to the office in Patong and it works there but does not connect at my home(searching for service). I have the Cmotech 650 modem. No one seems to have an answer at CAT>
