Hi.

According to some web sites there is supposed to be a lunar eclipse tonight, starting at 19:38, mid eclipse at 21:38 and finish at 23:38 (Thai time).

However i've just (21:30) been outside and can't see a thing - moon, yes, eclipse? Nope.

Anyone got any info on this..??

Kind regards.....

There *was* a lunar eclipse- which is not the disappearance of the moon (because the light from the sunset and sunrise diffract on the moon even when it is in Earth's shadow) but rather a red coloured, usually full, moon. Since the moon is unusually close in its orbit this year, it was quite dramatic rising over the horizon. Of course, once it was higher it was above the shadow zone and then just looked like a abnormally large full moon.

Hi :o

Thanks for the replies. I found iyt was a so-called "penumbral" eclipse, still no idea what it actually means, but apparently it doesn't really make the moon disappear or become red like in a "normal" eclipse.

Here in Bangkok there was nothing visible at all :..(

Best regards.....
