Income Requirements For Marriage Visa

Recommended Posts

What are the monthly income requirements to apply for a marriage visa?

I'm confused at the conflicting information that I get doing web searches.

Some say 800,000 TB in the bank or 65,000 TN per month income or a mix.

Other searches state 400,000 TB in the bank or 40,000 TB per month or a mix.

That's a big difference. I need to apply for a marriage visa.

I was married to a Thai Lady on Valentine's Day 14 Feb 2009.

I currently have an 1 year NO multiple entry visa that has 6 mos. left on it.

For marreid to a Thai national you would ned to show either an income of 40,000 baht a month or 400,000 in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months prior to applying. In both cases the money has to be yours only.

You will need to bring your wife along, the marriage certificate, her Id and household book, a map to your house and some photo's of you and the misses in and around the house.

Apply within the last 30 days of any permission to stay.

There is no requirement for that.

What you need is a Certificate from your bank certifying your balance if applying based on 400,000 in the bank.

If applying based on Income the Embassy Letter should be sufficient. There is no need for a bank letter. The bank book is enough.

Unless TJAN is dealing with one of those rogue offices that likes to make up their own rules.

As he is from Udon he probably goes to Nong Kai. No need to say more.

Bank book may not be requireed at all immigration offices. If asked for the letter from should not be needed. There is no requirement to show the 40,000 coming in every month. If they ask for the bank book it should show some transfers and withdrawls no set monthly amount.

Photos and map is required at many immigration offices.

Check with your immigration office to see what they require.

Yes I go Nong kai and just went for the third year and they always treated me well, but in Nong kai you need a letter from the bank and a letter from your embassy about your yearly income before tax.

I never have to show 400.000 bath in the bank.Any way maybe some imigration offices don't need a letter but better safe then sorry if you don't have all the requirements you have to come again.

That is exactly what I needed and the Marriage Visa is the next step.

We had to speed up the Marriage Certificate because we are bank financing a new home.

They will only finance 50% and I had to transfer 50% to my Thai bank account to pay out

the 50% in 10 monthly payments.

After having done that they wanted to see marriage certificates before they will loan the

other 50%.

One of the requirements in the Replys was:

"What you need is the following.

2 x Visa form TM 7,filled in with two photo's"

Can I find this TM 7 online and have it filled out before we go to the Thai office?

My wife gripped at me (a little) for not knowing about the Thai form for Farang they gave us at Bang Rak office she had to fill out in Thai. It was basically the same information that had already been translated from the form I received from the U.S. Embassy.

BTW where can I go to beg for the Marriage Visa? I am in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi.

I have a car and know the rail system and the bigger cities probably have handled farang issues before.

Thanks again, Chanwit

They probably will not wanr the house photo's, but always atake just in case.

They have always asked for them at Pattaya, but some offices are different, incase you missed it.........

This is exactly what was required from me at Pattaya for an application for extension made in December 2008 and granted mid January 2009 for one year.

Not all immigration offices require as much, some require more, but this was what was required and was successful for me at Pattaya. Good luck.

Immigration December 2008, for Foriegeners Married to a Thai .

Requirements;

1) Form TM7 – Temporary Stay, completed both sides, 2 sets, photocopies of this form not allowed, must be 2 original forms.

2) 2 of, 6cm x 4cm Passport style photos, one attached to each of the TM7 forms.

3) Evidence photos, Evidence of together, in Bedroom, in Living room, in Kitchen, Outside house showing house number, 2 sets.

4) Bank book, front page showing account holders name – NO JOINT ACCOUNTS ANYMORE, plus last 2 or 3 pages, 2 sets.

Must show a minimum of 400,000 baht deposited for a minimum of 2 months prior to application, or certified evidence of a minimum of 40,000 Baht / month income – NOT A COMBINATION OF BOTH.

5) Bank letter – confirming your account status above, dated as near as possible to the same day of application, and must correspond to what the book says. 2 copies.

6) Passport – Front page with photo

All stamped pages

TM card

Non IMM Visa

Again 2 copies of all.

7) Marriage certificate, if not in Thai, must have certified Thai translation, certified by the Ministry of foreign affairs in BKK, 2 Copies

8) House book (blue book) showing Wife as resident of that property. 2 Copies

9) Wife's ID card. 2 Copies

10)Map of house location. 2 copies.

Hope this helps. :o

And yes, the procedure must be carried out each year, but watch out for slight variations year on year. :D

You have choice of offices. I guess you can go to the one closest to you. This from the topiic on office assignments.

Foreigners living in Phatum Thani Province, Nonthaburi Province, Chainat Province, Lopburi Province, Saraburi province, Singburi province, Ayutthaya Province and Angtong province can visit either Ayutthaya Immigration, Chonburi Immigration or Nakhon Pathom Immigration offices.

If not one of these then Bangkok may still accept you.
