February 26, 200917 yr I have considered teaching abroad for the last several years. I was planning on teaching in Thailand in 2006 or 2007. I was planning on earning a TEFL or CELTA certicficate. So here is what happened. Let me tell about my educational background I have a B.A. in social science, and a Masters degree which were earned respectively at the University of California. (B.A. UC Riverside M.A. UCLA-University of California at Los Angeles).I am now finishing up my teaching credential program for National University. I will be a fully certificated teacher in June. This teaching credential fall under the criteiria of the CCTC (California Commision Teacher Credentialing). I am now finishing up my students teaching, under the guide of a Master teacher. My main goal is to be credentialed as middle or High School English Teacher. I have about 3 to 3 and a half years working as a substitute teacher in school districts in California. I have been in short term and long term teaching assignments in classroom school setting K-12. I decided to go back to school and get my full certificated teaching credential, because I would assume it would be better than getting a TEFL or CELTA which are both fine degrees. I would like to work in the top tier international schools if possible. I want to know if I am on the right track with these qualifications? I want to teach in Thailand for a few years, and I know it is more lucrative elsewhere, however, since I have been traveling to Southeast asia for several years, I would really like to live in Thailand. I am just looking for the best job possible.
