School administration told me they are not going to pay for the last month of the Contract they stamped and signed. How come?As i feel that's against the Thai Labour Law, i was reacted but they didn't want to talk about it.

Contract will expire at the end of April(30th) but they said no money for April, at all.

Also, no any word that we have to work in March but we are forced to work, as they said IF we want salaries for March-we have to work in summer camp, out of town.Whole month.

What should i do?Should i report them to Educational Office,Thai Labour Law Department, where my WP was given? The Civil Court?

Regards

They are breaking the law unless they gave you sufficient notice according to Labour Law (not your contract) of the end of your employment.

They are trying to get out of paying for summer, as many stupid schools do. They obviously don't plan to keep you next year, and thus are planning for turnover and have an idiot manager, as all such schools do.

You will win if you take them to court. The question is, how much will you have to invest to get them to pony up? If you start just with a letter from a lawyer, that is often enough to make them realise you are serious- so I would go that road. Since you say "we," pass round the hat to the affected coworkers and hire a lawyer just to write a letter explaining the law to the school, first. Might be enough to get them to pay right away.

If they don't have the money, really, then they will need to file for bankruptcy and you become creditors of the school- you can suggest that to them. :o

If they still refuse, they will really be exceptionally stupid- but you will still win- you just need to decide if the money that all of you collectively stand to lose is less than the legal fees you may incur.

P.S. All of you should start jobhunting now. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

As stated in the thread of your other post about this, the Labor Office should help you for free.

I agree with ijustwannateach, start looking for another job.

Thanks a lot for encouraging me. I was shocked in a first moments and now i am just angry as well, enough to bust them all.So, i will.

I know what they are going to do next year so i am hunting for a new school, in hope i will find FINALLY ONE SCHOOL, to be responsible and to appreciate they have a good teacher or at least, someone who is dedicated to all of that kids.

I am pretty sure that is chasing a windmills but i still have a hope here.

This people, i will never understand. They are lost in space.

Yes, they are trying to save the money during the summer but that will cost them more then they could imagine in their wildest dream. Two times, i surrendered in front of their stupidity so i just changed school, before the end of contract. This time i will not give up. I will made them to pay more then they owe me by the contract.A lot more will be. Thai labour law is solid rock,as far as i know, and there is a rule about EXTRA wages they have to pay, in case of terminating contract in unfair way.

The good thing is my Lawyer will not take the money from me.He will charge the school for his expenses. So, one of these days i will have a talk to the manager so, based on result, i will inform my lawyer what to do.Man dropped dead about laugh, after i told him situation. :D

As you mentioned money,as school doesn't have money(crap!), just to tell you they are planing to go to Japan during the holidays and as they are always but ALWAYS crying farangs have a good money and they don't-i have to ask them why i don't have a money to go to see Japan but "poor"Thai teachers have?

Not far from truth but maybe they will use the money stolen from us for April? :o So, let's dance!

Regards and thanks

My friend and I are in a similar situation, although its not the school breaking the contract , its the agency. Let me know how things work out for you.

Yes, please keep us posted. I am in an administrative position, but the Thai owners still seem to think that they can do whatever they want. We've had a few people threaten with court, but no one has ever carried through--I've even encouraged people to seek legal advice, if they think they have been wronged.

Of course, I try to make sure that there is a good and verifiable reason before either terminating someone or not renewing their contract, but still my idea and the owners ideas are different. There's usually win.
