Americans Executed In Thailand Last Year?

Featured Replies

The US State Department keeps statistics on Americans who die of non-natural causes overseas.

Looking at the latest report on deaths in Thailand, there's an odd listing of a death or two on March 22 last year: "Cause of Death : Execution".

Were there any news reports about this?

nothing about on thai visa, so it's a mistake, instead of "execution" should be "homicide" or anything else, but nor execution.

you can see from the dates on this list that there are errors (like 4 suicides on 30.09.2007 in Sathon)

That was my thought, but on the other hand it seemed astonishing that the State Department, of all places, would screw something like this up.

Not very diplomatic, not very diplomatic at all.

don't talk much about american diplomacy - as an example shows it's in a gutter

It's a government employee checking boxes on a form that another government employee compiles into a report. There's no definition of "Execution" at the State Dept. website. For all we know the US government's definition for these forms is a homicide with a shot to the head.

Just 644km to the north though, the Chiang Mai Provincial Court appeared to accept the claim by Douglas that when he put first two bullets into Mr Poretsky and then a third into his face as he lay on the floor that he did so in “impulsive rage” and “didn’t know what I was doing.”

Also, note all the entries are doubled up for some countries, while others appear singly. Thailand's are doubled up. Government reporting at work.

Bless! Still believes what the govt says.

a lot of suicides and motor bike accidents. Wonder how many of these are Divorce, Isaan style.

Three year old topic. No need to revive.
