Soy Milk

Featured Replies

Due to some gastrointestinal issues, I was advised to cut back on dairy products.

I went out and bought some Lactosoy soy milk in the small cardboard containers. After I got home and put on my reading glasses, I started reading the ingredients and nutritional analysis. Seems Lactosoy soy milk contains: whole milk powder, sugar, and 20% fat.

Does anyone know which brands of soy milk sold in Thailand do not contain those things/additives mentioned above?

Thanks in advance.

MaxJay you might care to read the following link concerning soy! Especially if you are suffering fromany digestive problems. Having been married to a vegetarian for 1 years I always thought soy products were good for you and healthy. It was only when surfing round the net I discovered there are lots of informatio saying just the opposite. the links are here

Most brands of soy-milk in LOS have both sweetened and sugar-free versions...just read the labels carefully (usually there is enough bi-lingual wording that you can make out which is which. As to fat, I don't know what the "natural" percentage of fat would be in soy-milk or if there are fat-free versions of it.

I went off milk (low-fat) for my protein shakes for a couple years but have recently gone back to using non-fat milk for them. The soy-milks available in LOS seemed "heavy" to me and maybe had too much artificial stuff in them. I like using the non-fat non-sweetened milk better.

Thanks for the info. Those links are eye-opening to say the least.

The only thing I used milk for for was my daily protein shakes and the occasional bowl of cereal. Perhaps it would be best to go back to the 0% fat milk?

If you want to go the soybean milk route, the best way is V-soy low-fat unsweetened.

Hi,

JSixpack is absolutely right. V-soy is the best with no dairy ingredients, comes in 2 variants - no sugar and low-sugar - both hi-calcium, and in 250ml and 1 L cartons..

You might also like to try Nature Up from Tipco. Made from Oats - no dairy - in a few different flavours in a 200ml carton.
