Presently on Non-immigrant-B visa

Employer -turned in work permit in January 2009

- told me visa no problem, until expiration.

Departure: Leaving Thailand 3rd week in March

Helper at Immigration apprised me,

-----I should have cancelled my Non-immigrant visa after cancellation of work permit, then give 7 days to leave or acquire new visa.

-----Immigration and Employment Office computers share info, and I will be hit with huge overstay fee at the international airport.

Is this true? Is there anything I can do, besides taking out a loan prior to departure?

Don't get caught by immigration between now and when you depart Thailand

If you are on a non-B visa and have done border runs every 3 months, you'll have no problem.

If you are on extension of stay based on employment you're on overstay.
