I am a Canadian here on a retirement visa. It will expire May 29. My Thai wife is due to have a baby at the beginning of June. Am I able to extend my visa by 3 months, and then is there some kind of O visa I can get without much money in the bank.

I sincerely thank you for any answers

Without meeting the financial requirements for a 12 month extension for retirement or marriage. The best you could probably do is a Multi Entry Non O Visa. Giving you up to 15 months stay but meaning you will have to exit/enter the country every 90 days.

Probably available from KL or Penang. You will need, Marriage Certificate, Copies of Wife's ID Card and House Registration. A letter from you Wife asking them to issue you the Visa is always a good idea. They will want to see a bank book with some money in it. How much is never sure.

A good idea to contact a Visa agent in Penang and ask. Here is one you can contact. http://jimsplace-penang.com/

It is possible to extend your current stay by 60 days to visit your Wife at Immigration 1,900 Baht.

From the Police Order.

2.24 In the case of an alien

visiting a Thai spouse or child:

Permission

will be granted for a period of not more than 60 days at a time

(1) Proof of relationship.

(2) In the case of a spouse, their marital relationship shall be de

jure (legitimate) and de facto.

How is it that you are here on a "retirement visa" when you don't have much money in the bank? What did you plan on doing when your permission to stay expired?

Thanks for clearing that that up for me.

Can I get that 60 day extension at my local immigration office?

Yes, you can even get it only at your local immigration offce. You now have to use your local immigration office.
