Please check the pinned thread above entitled "For Newbies" for tips about how to get started, and get ready to do a few hours or more of reading and research. Nobody's going to do your legwork for you.

I would add that in your friends' cases, with their hospitality experience, calling around to various big hotels might land them a job which the typical TEFLer wouldn't get- but it would help if they had actual TEFL teaching experience, too.

Good luck, and when you have more specific questions, why don't you post them in the pinned thread "Questions About Qualifications."

Replying to myself here, I guess - the brother in law has now posted separately as Herby. He uses technical terms for career qualifications in the hospitality industry, that may only apply in the UK; but the original poster here said it better.

Indeed, many well educated Americans can't distinguish a Scottish accent from an Australian one. It still amazes me that a modern tiny country that calls itself "England" barely understands their fellowcountrymen after a brief journey. Even Texas barely has two accents.

So, could Herby and wife possibly teach staff in the big resort areas such as Phuket and Bangkok?
