It is not so much a question of whether it is easier to apply for a spouse visa in Australia (onshore application) as opposed to applying in Thailand (offshore application). It is more a question of whether one can validly make an application in Australia.

To make an onshore application the applicant must be present in Australia, and hold an acceptable substantive visa that does not have a 'no further stay condition' (Condition 8503) attached to it.

If you search this forum you will find ample information on what is required with regards to spouse visa applications. There is also a wealth of information that can be drawn from other members experiences.
