10,000 Police, Soldiers, Security Officials Deployed To Keep Security At Government House

There have been talks to pooyaiban, police and soldiers trying to block the reds from coming to Bangkok tomorrow.

The reds said if they are blocked, they will block all streets. Blocking people from travelling is illegal.

Before going, they gather at local municipal office, train station, bus station, hotel front yard and police station.

The Reds in UK, USA, Australia, Sweden ... have their groups. Their leaders said they will meet in their countries tomorrow when the reds have the big protest in Bangkok. They have watched the reds in Thailand since the beginning. If violence is used to unarmed reds, they will report to the UN.

Groups who confirmed to come on the 8th April:

- Monks.

- Police who have not received justice. Ex-Police officers. Their wives and families.

- Soldiers mainly at low level. Their wives and families.

- Farmer association who protested at Government House recently.

- Government officers.

- College students.

- People from every province.

Land of Smiles becomes Land of lies - Telegraph

Land of Smiles becomes ..

Good summary I thought.

previously posted 66 posts ago as Post #1065 and discussed shortcomings subsequent to that.

Really? I don't recall that there was all that much detailed discussion apart from a rather one dimensional screed from one of the usual uncritical PAD supporters. The general view was that the article was generally accurate, and had many more astute observastions than "shortcomings. It certainly skewered Thaksin's pretensions of supporting democracy.

If you want to sum up on a past discussion please at least go through the motions of truthfulness.

LOL @ the politely-written flame. :o

Who said anything about a summation? I simply posted that the article had been previously posted (Truthful), and that shortcomings of it had been discussed (Also Truthful).

If you want to sum up on a past discussion please at least go through the motions of truthfulness.I have already posted the extract which upsets the feudalists so much.By way of reference

"The government is in a funk, panicking about how to block the transmissions. The army is said to be furious: Thaksin has broken the omerta and the government could not stop him. Commentators say he has gone too far and newspapers are openly demanding censorship to stop the revelations being heard.

Yet although the people Thaksin named have offered desultory denials, no one is seriously disputing the truth of his revelations. Apparently that it is not the point – in Thai politics the truth is not meant for public consumption.

Thailand aspires to be a serious country, a Western ally and a destination for tourists and investment, yet in the past few years the "land of smiles" has been more like the land of lies. A light cast on what takes place in the comfortable sitting rooms of power is long overdue."

"Motions of thruthfullness"

what "thruth"?

The truth that Taksin is "innocent" and has been deprived of his rights,

of ruling the country with a "democratically elected government" which

held absolute majority in the "democratic system" where all media critical

of his policies where silenced one way or the other, where any opponent, any

voice of criticism was silencend, or sued in court, threatend, granted "Persona no grata",

where in the Tak Bai incident arrested people choked to death were declared "weak because of fasting",

where 2000 plus people where executed in extra judical killings in the so called "war on drugs".

where laws have been changed to conveniently cover what ever this man and his cronies

chose was "right", where political meddling, nepotism and cronyism became the "state of the art"

in politics, where the sister of this ousted PM was nicknamed "Ms.30% cash on hand"?

It's all "Lies" by his "opponents"?

All other's are wrong, only he is MR.Clean, never done ANYTHING against the law?

All accusations "manufactured" by the "Elite" to bring down his "empire" Thailand Incorp.?

Or fact and history?

Welcome back to earth sir!

Ever heard of that concept - the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.A person's integrity when voicing opinions is judged not only by the truth he tells but by what he decides to leave out

Samuian

You are pushing at an open door. There's not much you say with which I disagree.

On the horrors of Tak Bai and the extra judicial killings, what's holding up the pursuit of justice right now?

Local leaders vow to protect monarchy

The Kamnan and Village Headmen Association will closely monitor the demonstration by the red shirts in order to safeguard the monarchy, its chairman Yongyos Kaewkheow said on Tuesday.

"The institution of kamnan and village headmen was founded by King Chulalongkorn some 116 years ago and the monarchy is an integral part of the nation," he said.

I posted the briefest of references regarding a previous link, not any sort of summation that you can then attack. If there are additional comments you wish to make about what was previously discussed, then go back and quote the specific posts and the points therein that you wish to address. It's nonsense to do that with my post as the quote.

Taksin cannot over throne the monarchy! As a Thai man, I really want to ask him this question, "Are you still a man?" A real man honors his Pledge of Allegiance to serve and protect the Nation, Religion, and The King. He broke that and he will pay for it with his life.

5,000 policemen deployed to protect mobile Cabinet meeting site

Pattaya - Some 5,000 policemen from five provinces were deployed to guard a hotel where the Cabinet held a mobile meeting here Tuesday morning.

The police from Chonburi, Sa Kaew, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, and Rayong were guarding the two entrances to the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel situated on a mountaintop.

Police used four mobile detention trucks to block each of the two sides of the road that runs to the hotel.

At 9 am, two pick-up trucks with red-shirted protesters rallied at a checkpoint of the hotel entrance, holding banners that the Cabinet was not welcomed.

Red-shirts rally in Pattaya

About 300 anti-government red-shirts rallied outside the hotel in Pattaya where the cabinet meeting was being held amid tight security on Tuesday.

The hotel is also the venue for the resumption of the 14th ASEAN Summit and related Summits, to be held from Friday until Sunday.

Leaders of the protest group, calling itself Love Democracy Pattaya, used loud speaker to demand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya resign from office.

300,000 Protesters to Gather in front of Privy Council President's Residence

Key red-shirt figures believe 300,000 people will gather for the big rally on April 8th, 2009 in front of General Prem Tinsulanonda’s residence. They are also confident that their mission will be accomplished within three days.

Leaders of the Democratic Alliance against Dictatorship, Jatuporn Prompan and Nuttawut Saikuea, made a statement concerning the previous government's meeting on national security to prepare for the big red-shirt rally on April 8th.

They claimed that Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Tuegsuban and Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva have tried to make people believe the red-shirt group is trying to overthrow the royal institution. The red-shirt leaders insisted that they do not want to overthrow the royal institution, but they want to clear bureaucratic polity and they asked the government to stop distorting the news.

Regarding the big rally planned for April 8th, Jatuporn said the rally will move to the front of General Prem’s residence, but they will not break into the house.

The protesters have also asked the government to prevent General Prem's supporters from gathering in front of the residence because they are afraid a clash will occur.

Nuttawut has asked for the right to use the government's media to tell people the truth before the big rally on April 8th begins. He also said the red-shirt group is ready to debate with the government.

jayboy, it's not reasonable to expect let alone demand that anyone here should post anything other than their opinion - as opposed to a "whole truth" (however one might define that). That said, I see a world of difference between expressing an opinion (preferably based on consideration of/reference to a reasonably complete range of evidence) and repeatedly indulging in outright propaganda - i.e. misrepresenting by (presumably conscious) omission.

Individual members must judge for themselves which is which - and the motives/methods of some people who so consistently and comprehensively leave out the parts that don't further their agenda.

Looks like the Government has things well under control so far, but is not taking any chances. I just watched the news on the TAN Network http://www.thailandoutlook.tv/ and it seems to confirm what the Nation and Post are saying.

I would encourage anyone to post pictures of anything new that is happening today and tomorrow, as it is always nice to see what is happening, rather than just taking somebody's word for it :-)

Hey H90, I have the solution...come down to Rayon Beach and drop your wife off in Bangkok lol.

We are leaving Friday afternoon, after our daughter gets out of English School and will head down to Rayon for the week of Songkran. She can always sit in the hotel room watching TV, while we sit on the beach drinking beer or coffee ;-) My wife is a PAD supporter, too, so they should get along great. Maybe they can start their own little movement...PAD Expat wives club or something along those lines lol

/edit - Please clarify - are you trying to tell me that what people are saying is "propaganda", as in genuine conversations amongst two or more people, like the one I just had over lunch?

The protesters have also asked the government to prevent General Prem's supporters from gathering in front of the residence because they are afraid a clash will occur.

What? Huh?

So its like, if a bunch of criminals come to your house and hang out on your yard. The criminals ask you to not call the police and don't ask your friends to come because we do not want to cause any harm.
