Hello i just wanted to know if anybody "like myself" has brought over an XBOX 360 from the UK or Europe and decided to Chip there machine for the benefit of playing cheap games. If so have you been successful in doing so or has it proved to be a mistake ?

I have to say i'm a bit concerned intrusting my XBOX with them just incase they pinch any decent components and replace them with shwaddy ones.. One shop said it takes 2 day and 1,500 baht to chip the machine..

Thanks

They are chipped by re-flashing the DVD drive firmware - I think the current iteration is undetectable if you go online with xbox live.

Internally, there is nothing to swap out, as the hardware is all tied to the motherboard with software keys, and the components are surface mounted. If you are worried, you could just remove the DVD drive and take that to the shop only, but far too much hassle imho.

If you look on Google, there are videos showing you how to flash the firmware yourself if you feel confident enough.

This is a bit late but I used www.nadazproject.com to flash my 360 as I've had too many damaged originals both from the machine itself and others not taking care of them.(So now the originals are in the safe with the valuables)They did it while I waited. About an hour.

how confident are you about that? i want to buy a modified 360, but no being able to play online is turning me off.. last time i checked (a year ago) it wasn't possible because microsoft would detect you and kick you off.. have they found a way around this?

thanks..
