stevehaigh
i want to fly to Luang Prabang from BKK and get a visa on arrival. the lao web site says it's possible if the country you are comming from does NOT have a Lao embassy, but LOS does. is there likely to be a problem? i'm flying from samui and only have 1 hour in BKK so no time to get a visa. do you think they will be ok with that? thx steve *********** Visa on Arrival: Visa on arrival can be granted at the International Checkpoints for the visitors whose countries do not have Lao Embassy or Consulate General mission. Otherwise, the visa should be done through the Lao Embassy and Consulate General. Immigration checkpoints where visas can be obtained on arrival are as follows: (4) Airports: Wattay International Airport (Vientiane); Luang Prabang International Airport ( Luang Prabang Province ); and Pakse International Airport ( Pakse Province )
The_Moog
Yes, you can get the visa on arrival in LP - after you fly in from Thailand. I did recently.

Thanks for your help Lung Bing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> US$20 from memory. You need normal passport photos. Can't remember how many they need (2 I think), but you should simply carry a bunch on you when you travel anyway, so you are never caught short. sabaijai
Doesn't matter at all what country you're flying in from, most nationalties can get a tourist visa on arrival in Laos, whether by land, air or water (river). They're available now at all border crossings.
