After seeing that the 'How many TV members have a Masters degree' thread had been 'reactivated', I thought it would be fun to see how many web pages indexed by Google search engine referred specifically to me!

Of course, a high number of indexed pages could be because you are infamous, rather than famous...

Care needs to be taken to ensure that the number of results that Google returns actually refers to yourself, (I add specific words such as previous companies that I have been involved with etc....)

For myself, I get a result of x thousand pages, but further scrutiny indicates that the number of relevant indexed webpages is maybe about 100.

The most 'infamous' webpage is one from the BBC website which refers to me as a former rocket scientist who created the best 'chatbot' for porn merchants!!

But my real name got me 306,000 which is about right. I share my name with a Hollywood Cameraman/Director.

lol, 70,000 results just for me, I have the unique talent of being the only one in the world with my name. I stopped checking after 20 pages but they were all me. Wish this actually meant something.

I played it smart and entered my name + Thailand, and was rather excited to see several thousand Google references to me...until I realized NONE of them referred to myself. Rather, I shared the same name as a westerner pedophile, jailed in Thailand! Lots of news articles. Scared me enough to keep my passport with me for the next police stop, just so they won't think I broke out of jail!

I don't know how many are actually me as I'm not a novelist/crime writer, nor a bobsleigh rider nor Olympic athlete (1988 Seoul and 2002 Salt Lake City) but I do feature on the first page of philharries with reference to my profile here on TV.

For me that's more than enough fame but nowhere near enough fortune.

One of the benefits (or negatives) of having one of those 17 letter Thai last names. You can google and know exactly where you and all of your relatives are either living or doing business. I have about half a dozen hits personally and about 200 for the family as a whole.

Glad I looked, only 118 for my real name, most of which are for someone who used to be high up in the Salvation Army, but three are me.
