My wife is a Thai national with 2 children 11 and 10. I am a US citizen and I would like to adopt my wife's children. My wife and both kids are in favor of this. We are planning on living in Thailand full time. Where do I start?

Start with where you live. You will have to do it under the laws of the country where you live.

An important factor will be if the children all ready have a legal father or not. Have a look at the childrens birth certificate. It should state the following details:

- id of child

- id of mother

- id of father

- id of person registering the birth

If the name of the fahter and person registering the birth are not the same, and the mother was not married at time of birth, the children don't have a legal father.
