Kidney patients to get free treatment nationwide

Over 3,000 patients with chronic kidney disease will have access to free dialysis treatment [known as continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis CAPD] at hospitals across the country, the National Health Security Office (NHSO)'s deputy secretary, Dr Pratheep Thanakijjareon said Thursday.

He said the NHSO had approved Bt600 million to extend the CAPD treatment for kidney patients from 23 hospitals last year to 105 hospitals nationwide.

Most providers are provincial hospitals, already prepared to help chronic kidney disease patients. This would benefit patients in remote areas, in particular, with affordable medical treatment and an improvement to their life quality.
