watchoutfarang
I know this sounds weird, but Craig the proprietor of Cafe Uno in Soi Khao Noi, East Pattaya can fix just about anything wrong with your computer. He can come to your house. Very nice chap. I had loads of things wrong and it cost me next to nothing for him to fix it.
Cuban
I understand the people at Pattaya2u (shop in Tukcom mall) do house calls.
grahamhc
Wattana (Opposite Foodland) do on-site call-outs. They are a often out at a friends office fixing stuff. Top qulaity firm and has all the replacement parts. Must be done ON-SITE? All companies may find they have to take the machine in to their office for some repairs or data reloads. Back-up your machine BEFORE the engineer comes.
Cuban
If the OP knows that the HDD is working there is no reason not to remove it from the case (depending on skill set etc.) before letting the engineer look at the problem. On a PC that I had to take in for someone else, we documented with a camera the cards, memory etc that was fitted to the machine before leaving it - to ensure there were no 'mistakes' - as the shop in question saw a copy of the pictures (taped to the side of the case) with the owner's contact details written. Another point - these days OEMs like to put the Windows VLK (the licence key 1234-45234-2323-GHTT etc.) sticker on the case - leaving there when taking your PC in for repair can almost ensure that "your" licence number becomes public information - when you then suffer problems and attempt an on-line update etc. you discover that your licence might be listed as a copied version of Windows. Same with letting the HDD out of your sight - not only porn or 'other' content that can be a problem - i recall reading here about people getting a 'new' HDD installed only to discover that someone else's data is on the drive - maybe a secondhand resale or the drive was used to backup/bounce the data during another repair. If you use your computer for anything remotely serious like banking or work - you are wise to be very careful as to what happens to it when you are not there. HTH. DonTron
Dont use Wattana, their service is horrible and they will "forget" both hardware parts and agreements very easily. I will strongly reccomend Liberty Computer. http://www.liberty-computers.com/ We use them for all our IT purchase, installation and repair, and they have been 100% reliable. Just ask for Steve. Just ask for Steve. in defence of Wattana, i have used Wattana for nearly 10 years. i never had a problem with repairs or supplies of hardware/software their technician Ai is as good as i have ever seen and consequently i always ask for him when i have a serious problem i have had house calls from them when i could not be bothered to unplug everything and take it in. they were dealt with efficiently, promptly and at a reasonable cost. i say this as i think the service i have personally experienced from Wattana deserves defending in the face of this members critiscm as always there are two sides to every story but i am happy with Wattana even if Don Tron is not. DonTron
i have had house calls from them when i could not be bothered to unplug everything and take it in. I never even had to go to the office of Liberty Computer. They always make house calls and shows up very quickly. We got 22 computers here and 2 servers, 2 internet lines and one large GB lan network- Liberty setup and maintains everything. They are a bit pricy compared to taking an amateur hustler from Tukcom, but they are professionals and we never had reason to complain.

PS isn't saying ''They are a bit pricy'' and ''we never had reason to complain'' a contradiction?
