Dear all,

Hi! My one-yr extention of stay was applied for the first time last year. It will expire on the 25th May 2009. My work-permit also expires on 25th May. I can only go to Suan Plu with my husband 30-day before the expiry to apply for a renewal, is that correct?

When should I go to make the extension so that my work permit will not be expired. From my experience, last year I let the work permit expired a few days and I have to re-do everything again, instead of simply extend work permit.

Also, I need to travel out of Thailand on the 1-5 of May, and again on the 15-20 of June. Normally I will get a 30-day temporary permit while my application is under consideration, right? Can I still travel? What do i have to do?

Thanks for your help!

I am a working female, married to a Thai who is a civil servant.

Personally I would apply for the extension after you return on 5th May. Your trip in June would then be after your 30 day under consideration.

Do not forget your 90 day reports if you are in Thailand for more than 90 days without leaving.

You can aply for your WP extension prior to doing the visa.

After the visa is done return to the Labor Office and get the date changed on the WP.

I'd suggest applying for the visa, and getting a re-entry permit. Ask if you can get a multple entry permit that would be good for the entire year (assuming your visa will be extended for the year with not problem). That would cover both your trips out of country.

If they won't do the multiple, for the entire year, get a single re-entr, than get another one for your trip in June. You could get that one at the same time as you get the remainder of your year visa ext.

Hi Lite Beer and TerryLH,

Thanks for the help! I am aware of the 90-Day reporting. Used to do visa runs before I have the one-yr permission of stay.

What concerns me is that, if I apply on 6th May, I will get the result on 6th June. I am quite confident that it will be approved, as we have a baby coming soon. :o Anyway, it's easier for non-thai wife to apply for the permit than a non-thai husband. I didn't have any difficulties from the lady last year. She was quite nice.

My WP will expire during the 30-day consideration period. That means, I have to get the WP extended before it expires on the 25th. And when I get the results on the 6th June, I need to sent the WP for extension to new dates again, correct?

Thanks for your help again! And may the Songkran festival bring you and your family lots of happiness and good health!
