Sorry .But nobody knows what is happening. They may even be open today. Who knows. I would like too think that if they are closed today then they will take this into consideration next week.

Hellooo

As a newer nubie, I have similar problem, flight cancelled and next flight out will over stay by not just 1 day but by 2 days. Visa good to 12 April my new flight morning of the 14th. From various posts on other threads , I believe my best choice is to not get "captured" for a day or two (13th-14th) and just show up at the airport and pay the one or two day fines B500/day for overstaying. Help please? anyone have any experience with this?

Usually I would say get an extension from Immigration. As that is not possible leave from the airport and pay your 1,000 Baht Overstay Fine.

Hello. My first post here and I need your advice please.

My boss is in a similar situation. His one year multiple non-b expired on March 16th (i.e. utilised by 16/3/09). He had a business trip in early Feb, came back in and got a stamp on his passport that his visa is valid until May 5th. We tried to get his extension of stay and re-entry permit done this week because he is travelling out to Korea on Monday 13th. Turned up at the immigration office this morning (Ayudthaya) and it was closed. My questions are:

1. Is there any way that he can retain his non-b visa when he gets back into the country? Would applying for a re-entry permit help in this situation and can it be done? If so, can he use the emergency service at the airport as the Ayudthaya office won't be opened until March 16th?

2. If the answer to Q1 is a 'No' then this will affect his work permit, is that right? His annual work permit extension was approved last week and the WP is now valid until 31st Mar 2010.

3. If he cannot get a re-entry, he will be stamped in as a 30 day tourist visa. Can we then still do extension of stay without obtaining a new non-immigrant visa outside the country?

I hope that the answer to my Q1 will be a 'Yes' (although I am not sure). If not I will have start everything from scratch because of this EXTRA BANK HOLIDAY!!!!

1. No, his Visa expired on 16/03/2009 and he does not have an extension of stay. A re-entry permit will not help him at this point.

2. His work permit should be ok.

3. He will have to change (convert) the 30 day Visa Exempt entry into a Non-Immigrant visa at immigration before he can get an extension of stay based on work. He should be able to do this without leaving the country.

Ona, i am very sorry to say that if he leaves the country without a re entry permit, his visa will be non valid, and as his work permit is tied to his vise will also be void. Meaning he will need to go to a thai embassy overseas again to get a new non imm b visa and apply for a new work permit.

My advise, try to postpone the trip a couple af days.

How about the immigration near suvarnabhumi? do they still do re-entry permits? they did a couple of months ago.

Hi IO & Kiwi. Thanks for your advice. Two different answers there, which one should I go for?

My feeling is that we have to start everything again when he gets back from Korea (I am so negative, ain't I?). This trip cannot be postponed, unfortunately :o

He's coming back on the 17th which means I have a week to sort things out before his next trip on April 25th.

Arrrrrgggghhhhh I want to cry. cry.gif

Ona,

Alternately, your Boss could possibly get a re-entry permit to cover his Admitted Until 05/05/2009 entry stamp. Given the political situation and holidays I don't know where he could get the re-entry permit or if it would help in this situation. He could try the emergency service at the airport, although nobody has posted that they where able to get a re-permit at the airport recently. If your Boss was successful in getting a re-entry permit, that would change things dramatically.

Thank you IO. I will tell him to try and do that on his way out on Monday. Yes. It would be great if he could get a re-entry permit. I am not looking forward to starting all the applications from zero again.

If your Boss is successful in getting a re-entry permit, tell him to make sure that upon his return immigration admits him until 05/05/2009 using the re-entry permit. He would not want immigration to give him a 30 day Visa Exempt stamp. Also upon his return, immediately get him a 1 year extension of stay from immigration.

Ona,

Your Boss will need two 4x6cm pictures for the re-entry permit application. You (He) can download the TM.8 application form from the immigration website.

Hello. Just to say thank you for your advice. My Boss has managed to get a re-entry permit at the airport before he flew out today. He told the officers that it was an emergency trip and there was no time to apply for a permit at the local immigration office because of the holidays. :-)
