It seems that no one knows where you might buy bentonite in Chiang Mai and I can't help you on that either.

But Bentonite is a very common product and is widely used through out the world so some one must have it in Thailand.

In fact, there are close to 100,000 pages on the web for "bentonite in thailand"

When all else fails "google it" :o

ask ozzydom in the farming section

I'll get you a current price on drilling grade bentonite after Songkran. Other places to check around Chiamgmai for small quantities would be any of the drilling contractors or places casting metal.

I have used a lot of bentonite in my past geotechnical engineering life, and looked into this about a year ago for a friend in Hang Dong.

Available in 40 Kg bags used here primarily as drilling mud. Pellets are way too expensive and powder will allow you to mix with soil to form an impermeable membrane It does not seem that there is a big market here for landfill linings etc so bulk delivery in a cement type truck is unlikely unless you are going to buy a lot.

In Canada this stuff is cheap as dirt and I used to buy complete truckloads in Texas and the freight to Vancouver cost more than the bentonite. Cost here is another story and at the end of the day my buddy did not proceed in his pond application. You may find that a geo membrane is cheaper and easier.

If you are set on using bentonite, talk to someone like Kenber Geotechnical or Boart Longyear in Chiangmai to track it down.
