Chinese Getting Citizenship In One Month

Featured Replies

I have met Chinese from Malaysia and mainland china that have Thai ID cards and passports but don’t speak a word of Thai. They have lived here only for a few months. For a long time I have heard of state officials in Bangkok and Chiang Mai/Rai putting Chinese immigrants into the citizenship computer database for a fee or because they are sympathetic to other Chinese. There have been a few mentions of this problem, most notably just after the coup throwing thaksin out, but nothing has come of it since. Anyone out there have any direct experience with this and how widespread do you think the problem is?
