English Speaking Midwife In Koh Phangan

Featured Replies

Dear all,

We are looking for an English-speaking midwife in Koh Phangan. Any advice welcome. Thank you!

We received an appalling service from Bangkok Samui hospital in Koh Samui - the two obstetricians not being able to speak English and pushing for the most chemical/harmful/expensive methods and procedures. Again, if you have any advice on Samui hospital, please answer this post.

All the best for you all,

Bec and Dave

I wouldn't really recommend a home birth on Koh Phangan, if something goes wrong there is no hospital on the island adequately equipped to deal with any problems and no ob on the island at all.

the doctor at Nathon hospital (the Samui govt hospital) is quite good and very experienced.

Hi,

a friend forwarded this to me - I'm a lay homebirth midwife, practicing regularly in Thailand, though I have moved to Australia. I do travel to Thailand occasionally for the right clients, depending on the timing and connection with the couple mostly. As far as I know, there are a couple of options with homebirth midwives in BKK, I can help you connect with them if you're willing to go there for the birth.

As to staying on the island, I don't know of any other HB midwives in thailand who work out of BKK, other than myself. I may be able to come, sorry I can't help you more. The best bet is to find someone from overseas who is willing to come there, or preparing yourselves for unassisted birth (which I can also help you with if that's your choice). I can also connect you with several homebirthing mothers in Phuket, many of whom I have assisted.

I highly recommend you read as much as you can about natural birthing, and feel free to contact me if you would like more information or support. contact me

All the best
