Can anyone answer this DEFINITIVELY

Whos spouse does and does not require a Shenchen visa for a trip to France

I dont want to know about last year or Italy or any other country just France and since March 2009 and I know the uk is not in the Shenchen agreement.

The French embassy NEWS says that since MARCH 2009 this applies

"The foreign spouse of a EU national (except French national) may enter France without visa if they are holding:

a valid travel document;

a valid UK residence permit with the endorsement "family member of EEA national";

and if they are meeting up or travelling with the EU national.

However if you do not satisfy the above conditions, you will need to apply for a visa to travel to France (for instance if your residency is not explicit or if you are travelling to France for business). Note that children and parents of EU Nationals still require visas to travel to France."

Please note the uk is in the EEA but what do they mean about specific residence????

My wife has a 2 year visa but not indefinate leave to remain it says spouse of [my name]on it. Which to me satisfies their requirements

please dont answer with old evidence .This is a new developement specific to uk residents spouses going to France with their Husband after March 2009

My interpretation of this is that “explicit” means that the valid UK residence permit must have the endorsement "family member of EEA national". Without this endorsement, the residency is not “explicit” and the spouse needs a Schengen visa.

You say that this French rule was recently introduced but hopefully there is somebody who already has first-hand experience with this and will post here.
