I have always wanted to visit Luang Prabang, and I plan on doing my border run during this trip. Does anyone know if this is possible as I heard there is no thai consulate in LP, and I must go to Vientiane to get the visa. Thanks

Do you want to do a border run or get a new visa? A border run is to cross the border into another country and come back to Thailand and implies you already have a visa.

There is no consulate in Luang Prabang.

You can get flights from there to Vientiane or vice versa.

I remember a post where a member made his application on Friday morning for his visa and then went there for the weekend and picked up his passport up on Monday afternoon.

If you did this you would want to sure and have a copy of your passport including your Lao visa. These with the receipt for your visa you would have no problem traveling.

I have a 60 day tourist visa for thailand, and would like to get the 30 day extension for thailand.

You extend 30 days at an immigration office inside Thailand. If you leave Thailand your tourist visa entry is dead and you can not obtain a 30 day extension of stay. You visit Immigration office with 1,900 baht and 4x6cm photo for the extension of stay.

If you want to make a trip to LP during your tourist visa entry you can get a re-entry permit (1000 baht) at immigration that will keep your current permit to stay valid.
