Is it possible to remove and transfer the steering wheel and shaft from the left to the right side of the cab to conform with Thai vehicles?

How much would it cost?

Any recommendations as to which garage/mechanic in the BKK area would best perform the service?

Vehicle is a 2004 Toyota Matrix (same as a Pontiac Vibe)

You are going to have the pax operate the breaks and accelerator? The whole car would have to be changed and probably cost more than a new vehicle. As that vehicle is not sold here AFAIK there would not be any parts available.

Take advantage of driving on the wrong side - easy to sneak down the breakdown lane, view road signs etc.

Definately not worth the hassle, conversion, parts, etc. Just drive with the steering wheel on the left. I think its legal. I've seen many jeeps and mustangs in bkk.

I'm eight feet tall so I was going to operate the breaks & gas pedal with my left foot or maybe let my dog take care of it. Kidding, point well taken. I've heard Thai mechanics can do anything so I thought they could rig up a lever and pulley system to take care of the brake & throttle.

Drive everywhere in reverse.

Dual controls (pedals not steering) are routinely (even DIY Kits) fitted in the UK for driving school cars, so that's doable, but you'd have live pedals on the passenger side (yikes!)

It's feasible to move the steering column across with a chain drive link, but making it road legal/insurable... :D

Back to the reversing plan :)
