Next to (the right of) the UN Irish pub on Rajvitthi, there's a big shop that should have everything that you need. You'll recognize it by the big palette sign outside.

Big nice store north of Chiang Mai International School. They have a good selection. The road that is between the Chiang Rai Rd. and the superhighway.

That's to the right of the UN Irish Pub assuming you're facing it - i.e. about 50 metres further east towards the moat on the same side of Rajvitthi [aka Rachawith(i)]. The street level floor is a large bookshop - the art supplies are upstairs. Highly recommended.
