You have two choices.

You can get a 1 year extension of stay at immigration (1900 baht) for either marriage or because you have a Thai child.

You need to show inome of 40,000 baht per month or 400,000 baht in the bank in your name only (for marriage it has to be in the bank for 2 months). After you get married you would have to do the marriage extension. The problem for you would be that you have to be here for at least 30 days while they consider your application. After getting the extension you would need to get a multiple re-entry permit (3800 baht) which would be good for the length of your extension. To start the process for the extension I suggest you go to the consualte in Vientiane and get a single entry non-o visa (90 day stay) to visit your child if you are not married yet when you do it.

You could get a multiple entry non immigrant O visa to visit your child or wife. This allows you enter the country for 90 days as many times as you want for 1 year. If make your last entry just before the visa expires you can get another 90 which would give a total of 15 months without getting a new visa. You can get this visa in KL or Penag by showing a bank book with some money in the bank. I have heard that 100,000 baht is enough.
