Bangkok Eye Hospital

Featured Replies

Im wondering if someone can recommend an eye hospital or eye doctor in BKK.

Ive had my left eye removed a few years ago and use an artificial one, however i have an infection in it, so i took Chloroamphenical which i had my second allergic reaction too so emailed my eye specialist in the UK, she told me to try Fucithalmic i went out and bought this yesterday but have woken up with huge swelling all round my eye hence im obviously allergic to this.

I have a coral impant to sit my false eye on, it was a fairly specialist operation hence you can see my need for seeing a upto date trained eye doctor.

I have done google searches and can find a few hospitals but am wondering if anyone has seen a dcent doc, as my trust in docs when it comes to this eye isnt the best.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you can't get back to the UK but don't feel confident in doctors here, Singapore might be a reasonable intermediary step. It will be more expensive but the quality of care will be better.

Somebody will be along soon to spell the name of the eye hospital in BKK - maybe Rutinin

Ocular prostheses are so rare here that I cannot get a blue one, from the only specialist in the North

Dont they make them from scratch for you?

I travel 350 mile to London to get them made buy the leading guy in the UK at one of the worlds leading eye Hospitals (Moorfields). If i were to go private they cost 500GBP, however i was quoted about 2000gbp to have one done in Singapore and about 1500gbp to have one made in BKK

It was a UK doctor that i first saw after going blind in that eye that made me not trust doctors, and she was basically the most respected eye surgeon in the UK.

But it was a pretty unique operation i had hence i was looking for whoever is the best in town, but i think i just panicked a bit this morning after seeing my eye so swollen from just the anti biotic.

The ironic thing is it wasnt too bad an infetion its just it wouldnt clear up, hence the need for the drugs and theyve both made it 10 times worse.

After reading a few sites its seems as if its a coin toss between Rutinin and BKK hospital, and to take my chances.
