Hey can anyone spot the tourist sunbathing in the trash....and Kamala was voted by Conde Nast as one of the worlds most beautiful beaches....We believe at this time of year with all the rubbish coming from the sea is a perfect way to clean both the beaches and the sea at once. help us get this beach cleaned before it returns to the sea on the next high tide....come on we need your help, if this model works we can easily start on other beaches....There is even talk of a local builder using one of his bulldozers to clean up the rocks that were brought in by the tsunami...

Well done. Can you post an "after" photo? maybe submit the story/pics to an international publication. Just out of curiosity, who picked up the bags of garbage for their ultimate disposal and where were they disposed of? Incinerator or landfill? Just asking because I know of one other clean-up (not in Thailand) where the garbage was ultimately disposed of in a vacant lot :)

We worked with the Or Bor Tor. We had their full support.I believe there in an incinerator. its not perfect but apart from recycling there is no other choice expect land fill. Recycling and education is our long term goal.

The secret was that the hotels got behind us. Andara,Cape Sienna,Kamala beach hotel and the Courtyard all sent large numbers of their staff to help us out. Looking to clean Bangtao and Kalim beaches next. Moving forward we will look to raise a small amount of revenue through advertising and donations which will pay for two full time beach cleaners. We are also looking for a coordinator for the Naitharn area. If your interested get in touch. ....

Still waiting for some photos, i have been involved in several beach cleans and this was by far the best supported.

Well done everyone who helped out. Special thanks to Beautiful World( furniture and Interiors) and Nick ( Indigo Real Estate) with his Summer in Phuket campaign. He has a point about the weather in the summer season. It was absolutely beautiful yesterday.....

Mai khao was cleaned i believe in February. If anyone has any suggestions of beaches that need cleaning please let us know.

item--6- Big hotels in Phuket join the campaign to boost Phuket’s summer season from April – November with a sun and fun concept.

Trying to put the Phuket’s low season or sometimes called green season behind them, a group of real estate and tourism business people, including residents and hoteliers led by Nick Anthony, MD of Indigo Real Estate Company, recently launched a campaign to boost the ‘Summer Season’ from April 15 through to November 1. The campaign was announced last month at Chedi Hotel on Surin beach. After a month, Andaman News caught up with Nick to ask how the campaign is going and he said they had quite a great deal of success. Most of the big hotels agreed to join and they emphasize that Phuket is a beautiful place all year round, as he explained more: (Voice *** ) The General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott at Kamala Beach, Lutz Mueller, also supports the campaign. He said they will join publicity campaigns together with other hotels. (Voice** )
