Why not, it could become another "Rain" thread (which had a considerably more restrictive title), but we must remain on-topic :D

Now, what was the topic? Ah yes, '?'

it could be

most certainly the shortest, but hey ' ? ' could be the hastings version of 555 ? who knowes

The question mark (?), also known as an interrogation point, question point, query,[1] or eroteme, is a punctuation mark that replaces the period at the end of an interrogative sentence. It can also be used mid-sentence to mark a merely interrogative phrase, where it functions similarly to a comma, such as in the single sentence "Where shall we go? and what shall we do?", but this usage is increasingly rare. The question mark is not used for indirect questions. The question mark character is also often used in place of missing or unknown data

anyway i going back to my knitting

Highlighted word is one you don't see everyday.

it started well "erot...", I was getting excited, then "...eme" and I lost the thread, so to speak.

In the interests of prolong the thread, can someoneelse get a definition of "eroteme" for us all please

Not sure that ~ is so sexy though http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tilde now 'interrobang' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interrobang is a much more sexy punctuation mark.

A small competition http://www.mentalfloss.com/quiz/quiz.php?q=257&p=1 I scored a dismal TWO :)

Crossy.

I scored 4

But to be honest with you, I'd just read your link to interrobang, otherwise I would not have got that one and 2 were lucky guesses. So I should really have only scored 1!

I even got chevron wrong :)

I had something very interesting to say, but then (after several embasassing hasty posts in the past) I remembered to re-read the OP and realized that what I had to say was Off-Topic so I cant post.
